How Silks and Sounds Started
So like many great things, this event started in a small room full of very dedicated people working towards a goal. The goal was to create an educationally based competitive performance opportunity in a city that had not seen something like this before. The goal was also to create, provide, and expand a positively life-changing experience to not only the performers, but also to the spectators attending. We do this by creating a stage for participating groups to engage in education, competition, entertainment, and the promotion of individual growth.
On October 6th, 2018 all of the hard work was finally realized. Silks and Sounds had a total of 6 schools attend its inaugural competition and a superstar panel of adjudicators to judge and critique them (JW Koester, Dan Bryan, Gene Monterastelli, Mike Tackett, Brian Mora, Jojo Dangerfield, George Miles, James Goodrich, and Marvin Reed). After a Successful first Showing, the group is hard at work to ensure that the 2nd Silks and Sounds Spectacular will be even better!
