With an extensive background in gospel and a lifelong passion for soul music, Betty Fox has burst onto the Florida music scene in a whirlwind of controlled yet unabashed passion and has taken the hearts of anyone wise enough to lend her their ear. Betty Fox appreciated singing early in life and performed for the first time at a church play at the age of 4. Her family had a deep love for southern c

ountry gospel and tight harmonies which they would express at every family gathering, and that is where her affinity for music began. "My uncle Fred would pound on the keys with his monster hands and the harmonies would resonate in my soul", Fox says. Now, this fiery songstress has her own musical project with quite a few heart wrenching, lyrically driven and musically sound original tracks that beg the question "What kind of life must this old soul have lived?" She has played on multiple music festivals including the city of Treasure Island's Bikini Blues Bash Festival, the Tangerine Blues Festival, the Dunedin Wines the Blues Festival, the Gasparilla Music Festival, they headlined the Safety Harbor Seafood Festival, and will be performing at the Daytona Blues Festival in October. They have opened for such artists such as Mavis Staples, The Legendary JC's, Selwyn Birchwood (IBC WINNER), Roosevelt Collier of "The Lee Boys", Damon Fowler, Lucky Peterson, Shaun Murphy, Bill Wharton "The Sauce Boss", and Marcia Ball, They have performed on festivals with Lord Huron, Ozomalti, Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears, Best Coast, Dawes, and The Meter Men, for crowds amassing over 6,000 screaming fans. Hey you guys…

I’m going to be vulnerable for a minute.

A few weeks ago our family moved with three little kids, and between the move, deposits, expenses, and trying to get settled, it completely wiped us out financially.

For the last two months, I’ve been doing everything I know to do. I’ve been applying for jobs, interviewing, playing music, and trying to rebuild stable income for our family.

Then I was offered what I thought was the opportunity that was finally going to change everything.

I invested in training I couldn’t really afford because it came with the promise of placement into a high-ticket sales opportunity. It felt like the break I’d been praying for.

I got the job.

I worked hard.

I helped generate tens of thousands of dollars in revenue for the company in my first couple of weeks.

Then, without notice, they hired someone else.

As of today, I still haven’t been paid for the work I completed.

The paycheck I worked for and was counting on simply never came.

So here I am.

Unless I can cover our bills over the next two weeks, I’m going to have to pawn my guitar again.

If you know me, you know that guitar isn’t just an instrument.

It’s the guitar I’ve written songs on.

It’s helped support my family for years.

It’s part of my story.

I honestly never imagined I’d be writing a post like this.

C’est la vie.

But here’s one thing I know…

I’m not giving up.

I’ve applied for more than 20 jobs this week alone.

I’m interviewing.

I’m playing shows.

I’m doing everything I can to create stable income for our family.

I truly believe this is temporary.

I don’t expect to be in this position next month.

I just need to make it through these next two weeks.

So instead of asking for something for nothing, I’m opening up the entire Move Mountains collection.

Some of these watercolor paintings were created by my mom, some by me, and every purchase helps bridge this gap while I continue fighting for our next chapter.

Small original paintings start at $10–20.

I’ve contemplated hard about what to share and what not to share on this platform and this is a win I want to highlight. As a sober Mom, I made the decision to move in with family until we return to our feet. During that transition we had to postpone little Patrick’s speech therapy because of funding.

Thanks to my incredible fans, friends, and decent humans who bought art from us when I shared the need, we were able to resume therapy and as a mom, I can’t thank you enough! I treasure his voice much more than my own.

I’m going to be vulnerable for a minute.

I’ve spent the last two months looking for work, rebuilding, taking every opportunity I can find, and trying to figure out how to get our family back on solid ground.

Then, a few weeks ago we moved with three little kids and it wiped us out financially.

Recently I made a decision that felt risky but necessary. I invested in training that I believe will open doors and create opportunities for our family. It was money I absolutely could not afford, but I had to choose between staying stuck in limbo or betting on myself and my family.

I chose the second option.

The problem is that it created a short-term gap.

Right now my Fender Telecaster and Blues Junior amp are sitting in a pawn shop. If I can’t come up with the money soon, they’ll be gone.

Those of you who know me know that guitar isn’t just an object. It’s been part of my livelihood and my life for years.

So here’s what I’m doing.

My mom has been painting. I’ve been painting when I can. Together we’ve put together a collection called “Move Mountains.”

I’m calling it that because I believe God can move mountains in our lives, and right now I’m praying for exactly that.

These are pieces of art we created for ourselves. They aren’t made for consumption, they were created to depict the beauty we wanted to see in our own homes. Every painting is for sale.

Small paintings start at $10–20. Larger canvas originals are individually priced.

I will be adding to and taking paintings off of this post alone. Please feel free to revisit daily for the next two weeks as we create more!
