Spring Break Clay Camp at The Pottery Grover Beach

Looking for something creative and hands-on for spring break? Join us for Clay Camp at The Pottery in Grover Beach. Kids will get to try the pottery wheel, explore handbuilding, and create their own clay projects in a fun studio environment. So much fun getting messy and making something from clay.

April 6, 8, 10
10–12pm or 1–3pm

Students will experiment with different techniques and leave with several handmade pieces. No experience needed — just come ready to play with clay.

Pieces will be ready to pick up 3–4 weeks after the class once they have been fired and glazed.

The next session of classes starts next week (Feb 23).
Three things to note:

One. The last day of the 6-week Raku class will end with a dramatic firing on Mike McNutt’s semi-famous pottery ranch. This ranch is down a long dirt road with exotic parrots, 3 raku kilns, and breathtaking sunsets. You can make hand built or wheel pieces in this class. This class will be an experience you will never forget.

Two. If you are just starting out on the wheel and are starting to make progress, rebook the same class. Seriously. I have taken the Wheel 1 class three times in the past year and am just now leaving my nest to start Wheel 2. Pottery is all about the wax-on, wax-off.

Three. We are trying a new class, “Wheel Problem Solving.” In this class, the teacher will roam the floor and help you break through whatever problems you are having on the wheel. Centering? Pulling walls? Throwing off the hump? Making bottles? Chattering? Porcelain? Trimming? It’s for students in the intermediate wheel phase.

Valentine’s Nesting Heart Bowls 💕

Spend part of your Valentine’s Day getting creative together. Join us February 14 from 1–2:30pm for a family-friendly handbuilding class where you’ll make a set of nesting heart-shaped bowls—sweet keepsakes for candy, treasures, or gifting.

All ages welcome. No experience needed, just come ready to play with clay and enjoy a relaxed, creative afternoon.

$54 per person. Finished pieces will be glazed and fired by our team and ready for pickup 3–4 weeks after the event.
