Last night I finished The Thing Remastered. Man, it took me back to a more simpler time in gaming. No micro-transactions, no frequent downloads, no loud toxic fanbase. Just me, a controller, the TV and a fun game that did not have to be anything more than that.

I never finished it on the PS2, so getting the remaster on the PS5 was a no brainer for me. It had a lot of interesting mechanics that kind of fell apart the longer you played. Testing yourself and your squad mates to see who may be a Thing was unique at the beginning of the game, but once the action begins to ramp up, it didn't really make much of difference.

I did enjoy the trust mechanic as well, but it was limited by the tech of the time. The AI of your squad mates was pretty terrible as well, as they could get stuck on a lot of geometry and get lost and seperated from you.

Overall, I had a blast playing it, and finished it in just a few days, which isn't something that I normally do.

4/5

Just finished Hotline Miami for the first time. This game is equal parts rage inducing and addicting all at the same time. There were so many times I wanted to slam my Steam Deck and stop playing, but it has that "just one more run" feel to it that makes you want to keep playing.

I honestly have no idea what was really going on, even after playing the epilogue, but it was an... enjoyable experience overall. I just don't think I'll be in any rush to pickup Hotline Miami 2 any time soon.

The wife and I have been rewatching Stranger Things so we can finally watch the final season, and since chronologically it comes between seasons 2 and 3, we decided to check out Tales From 85.

I have several issues with this animated season. First, it kind of exists in a void. They characters never mention the weird plant monsters that used people as hosts again. They never mention any of the new friends from this season. It's like it never happens. I know this is always an issue with creating prequels and stuff like this. If you didn't plan on it from the beginning and plant the seeds, it always feels like it's outside the main story.

Another issue is that this is obviously aimed at a younger audience that may not be able to watch the main show. However, if they do watch this, they will be lost as to what happened in the two seasons prior. It's it's NOT aimed at a younger audience, then they missed the mark with the writing l.

Overall I've just not really seen the appeal and who this is supposed to be aimed at. If anything, they could have done a show that took place in that same universe, but with different characters. That would have made more sense.

Wow, this...this is really bad. Like REALLY bad. This is a HUGE price increase and spells disaster for the Steam Machine. The Steam Deck came out in 2022, 4 years ago now. Hardware used to go DOWN in price as the components got older. This is insane. I get it, AI is gobbling up all the memory and tariffs are bending over everyone and raw do***ng them, but surely you can cut costs elsewhere on a machine this old and make up for the increase in memory prices.

That goes for all the console makers too. The PS5 and XBOX Series should not be anywhere close to how expensive they are now.

At this rate, the Steam Machine is going to cost around $1500, and there will no almost no reason to buy one at that price point.
