Recently, I experienced an odd moment on the piano.
Since February of 2026, I’ve been assisting an individual on Sunday afternoons by playing for them.
For context: I only charged this person $50 to play. I also have a full corporate job and I do content creation (movie reviews & tv show reviews), so music doesn’t even pay my bills or fund my life. Lol.
I asked this individual if they needed me to play on Friday, June 5th, 2026 and they responded: “let me check and see if my funds are together first.”.
I checked in with them on Saturday, June 6th (2nd time), to ask if this individual needed me to play. They said, “give me until 5pm, and I’ll let you know.”
Sunday morning, June 7th 2026 I reached out for the 3rd (final) time and asked. They responded, “no, not today.” So, in my mind based from context: “Okay, you didn’t have the money to pay. That’s fine; I believe you’ll use instrumental tracks.”
I look on Youtube & Facebook live: this person has a bass player, piano player and a drummer there in person.
So, my mind goes: “you didn’t want me to play today; But, you’ll bring in a full band?”
Context, part 2; Since initially playing in February, it’s only been me playing: no drummer or bass guitar player at all.
