🔥 A powerful moment from where it all began… 🔥

This unforgettable performance of “Strange Fruit” by Diana Tuffin accompanied by the moving expression of Royal Expressions (see what we did there) founder Princess Johnson. This took place at our very first Strange Fruit Music Festival in 2022. The energy, the emotion, the purpose… it set the tone for everything we’ve built since.

Now, as we prepare for Year 5 in 2026, we’re beyond excited to welcome Anyah Nancy for this year’s Nina Simone Tribute. 🌹

This is just a glimpse of what’s to come.

🎶 Check out the full 2026 Strange Fruit Music Festival lineup on our website and get ready to be part of something truly special.

We understand the weight that the name “Strange Fruit” bares. The song was sang by greats like Billie Holiday and Nina Simone in protest of lynchings of blacks during Jim Crow at venues that wouldn’t allow blacks to play, if they did they had to come through the back door and were told specifically not to perform that song that shed light on what was going on in America at the time. This is for us and by us, and we have made it our responsibility to create valuable opportunities to black musicians and continue uplifting black cultural music by intentionally creating spaces for us to perform. With that being said we have a “Nina Simone Tribute” every year because Nina was a NC native and this year we have the pleasure of having performing the tribute. See you there! ✊🏿😎💯
