t various venues in the Green Valley/Sahuarita area. With her spirit full of positive energy and joy, and a love for the elderly and her community; she enjoys the rewarding experience of teaching Chair Zumba for residents at local dementia/memory care facilities. “Annette Mesa is an inspirational leader who has a sincere love for dance and for promoting a healthy lifestyle to her family and community. Her generous spirit fuels her numerous philanthropic moves. “Dance is my joy,” she says. “I know in my heart I am meant to spread that joy.” Annette has over 25 years of expertise in dance performance, instruction, and choreography. When she takes center stage, her high-energy routine kicks her student’s smiles into overdrive. Throughout the years Annette has coordinated and provided dance classes and entertainment for numerous charity fundraisers, raising more than $20,000 for local causes. In 2012, she founded the annual Zumbathon Fundraiser at Continental School, which raises money for the eighth-grade Civics Club’s annual trip to Washington D.C. One of these events brought in $4,000 in just two hours. Her passion for dance is contagious. Annette retired from a civilian position with the Tucson Police Department in June of 2019, and has been happily married for 27 years. Her son is a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy, and her daughter attends the University of Arizona.
