Pure Vessel is supposed to be unsettling.

Quiet. Empty. Kind of beautiful, but in the “should I be standing this close to it?” way.

So that’s been the question with this build.

Does the armor feel ancient enough?

Does the cape feel haunted enough?

Did we accidentally make it too pretty?

Katie Strength built the cape layers and drape so the fabric catches light without turning into a winter formal situation. Todd Welch handled the armor, pattern work, finish, and getting everything to sit together like it belongs to the same strange little nightmare.

There’s still more work ahead, but this is the stage we love.

It stops being fabric and armor.

It starts feeling like the character is in the room.

The Star Fox jackets have officially become A Thing.

We just finished two more, and more are already on order.

Which, honestly, makes sense. There’s something about this jacket that hits that perfect spot between cosplay, fandom fashion, and “I may or may not be reporting for duty in a space hangar.”

These are handmade here in Colorado by OuterRim Creatives, one at a time. Katie Strength handles the fit, tailoring, fabric work, stitching, structure, and all the soft-goods precision that makes the jacket sit right instead of looking like a sad costume-bin accident.

Todd Welch handles the character read, patches, visual storytelling, and the important question of, “Does this feel like it belongs in the world?”

That’s the part we care about most.

A jacket like this has to look good in photos, hold up on a convention floor, and make someone feel like they just stepped into the character’s universe.

Padded collar. Quilted panels. Custom patches. Red scarf. Enough pilot energy to make poor life choices in space.

We’re opening more spots for Star Fox-inspired jacket commissions, including Fox, Falco, Wolf, and custom squad-style variants.

If you’ve been thinking about one, now’s a good time to start the conversation before the next round fills up.

The robes are where the Jedi silhouette begins.

A good Jedi costume isn’t just “throw on a brown robe and look mysterious.” Although, to be fair, that is emotionally tempting.

The drape matters. The hood shape matters. The sleeve weight, layering, movement, and the way the fabric falls when you walk all matter.

Katie custom drafts our Jedi robes from scratch with Rebel Legion CRL standards, screen accuracy, and real convention wear in mind.

Built for serious Star Wars fans, Rebel Legion approval paths, Celebration season, photoshoots, and long troops.

All fandoms welcome.

Some costumes look cool on a mannequin.

Some of them look like they’re about to ask you to join a doomed expedition.

This Gustave build from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been slowly taking over our studio for a while now.

Little piles of gold trim. Armor pieces everywhere. Katie Strength muttering at fabric. Todd Welch muttering at paint.

The usual.

Then tonight we finally got enough of it assembled to step back and have that quiet little studio moment where everyone just goes:

“…oh.”

That coat silhouette.
The asymmetrical armor.
The gold catching light against the black fabric.

It suddenly felt real.

Katie handled the tailoring, structure, and soft goods work that give this build its shape and movement. The coat had to feel elegant and dangerous without turning stiff or bulky in real life.

Todd handled the armor build, metallic finishing, integration, and weathering so everything feels like it belongs in the same world instead of looking like separate costume parts.

Game designs always look easy until you try building them in actual gravity.

But that’s the fun of it.

Taking something that started as concept art and turning it into something someone can actually wear, move in, and become.

Star Wars Celebration is sneaking up fast.

Which means a whole bunch of cosplayers are currently staring at armor bins and pretending they still have plenty of time.

We hand make and tailor everyone of our commission right here in Colorado. This Bo-Katan flight suit was one of those builds where the soft parts had to do the heavy lifting. If the fit is off, the armor won’t sit right. If the seam lines drift, your eye catches it immediately. So we spent a stupid amount of time dialing in the details.

Katie drafted and tailored the entire suit from scratch around the client’s measurements. Everything was built to support the armor properly while still moving well during long troops and convention days.

And because we build to Rebel Legion and 501st CRL standards, accuracy matters. A lot.

Star Wars Celebration is almost here.

May the 4th be with you.

At OuterRim Creatives, Star Wars builds are kind of our love language… and occasionally our descent into madness.

Katie is a Master Jedi with fabric — soft goods, tailoring, drape, fit, texture, and the tiny details that make Rebel Legion and 501st submissions actually work.

Todd handles the armor, weapons, props, fabrication, and weathering like a Mandalorian — which mostly means stubborn, overbuilt, and absolutely convinced this piece needs “just one more pass.”

Together, we build certification-focused costumes with CRLs in mind from the start — because “close enough” is how you end up explaining seam placement to a very serious Jedi Council.

For the 501st.
For the Rebel Legion.
For the people who know the difference between weathered and “fell down a trash compactor.”

If you’re planning a build and want it done right the first time, let’s talk.

Not every pilot flies standard colors.

Some of them… rewrite the story.

That’s where this gets fun for us.

We build a lot of Star Fox jackets—Fox, Wolf, Falco—but every once in a while someone comes in and asks, “What if it looked like this?”

And suddenly we’re not just recreating a character… we’re collaborating on one.

That’s where Katie Strength goes to work.

She dials in the lines, the balance, the stitching—everything that makes it read instantly from across a con floor and still hold up when you’re standing right in front of it. Every curve, every proportion… intentional.

Todd Welch designs the patchwork in-house, and HiLo Design brings that embroidery to life so it hits that same level of finish.

Then Todd pushes the build further—materials, structure, and how it actually lives on a body at a convention instead of just looking good on a hanger.

And somewhere in the middle of all that…

you get something recognizable—

but unmistakably yours.

That’s the part we love.

If you’ve ever had a version of a character in your head that doesn’t exist yet… we’d love to hear it.

Day 2 at Cosmic Con Colorado Springs.

Todd and Katie are back at the booth today, doing what OuterRim does best — talking characters, costumes, craftsmanship, and all the wonderfully unhinged cosplay ideas people bring us.

Katie brings the costume magic: the fabric, fit, silhouette, detail, and “how the hell did she make that work?” brilliance.

Todd brings the storytelling, design brain, fabrication chaos, and the ability to turn a rough character idea into a build people can actually step into.

Together, we’re OuterRim Creatives.

Come see Todd and Katie today at Cosmic Con. Bring us your favorite character, your dream build, or the weird idea you’ve been afraid to say out loud.

This is where the story becomes wearable.
