I am so excited to invite you all to my artist talk on Saturday 25. May from 11-12 pm at Palazzo Bembo, Venice on the first floor.

Expanding from my installation Rapturous Alchemy: The Corallium Series, I will deepen the conversation on the devastating impact of climate change on coral reefs as well as highlight how I am using alchemy in my paintings. It is an extra treat that the wonderful and renowned Venice-based curator Dr. Hesperia lliadou Suppjei will be moderating the talk.

Hesperia lives and works between Venice and Doha. She is elected assistant professor in History of Art and Architecture and a Museum Studies specialist, educated at the University of London, the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and the City University of Hong Kong. She is also a member of the International Council of Museums and the only woman elected in the specialised Europa Nostra committee, focusing on museum and cultural spaces within historic buildings.

Rapturous Alchemy: The Corallium Series presents several of my new, large-scale Corallium works backlit on lightboxes in a darkened room. The use of light that seemingly comes from within, “liquefies” the paintings and transports the viewer into a rapturous exploration of aqueous suspension akin to my own sensory experience when swimming among the coral reefs.

I hope to see you there !

and I arrived in Venice on April 3rd to install my exhibition. Venice welcomed us with glorious sunshine and 80-degree temperatures for our first two weeks. We spent one Sunday at the Lido where people were swimming in the Adriatic. On April 18th my wonderful friends and supporters from the Berkshires arrived just in time to attend the opening of my exhibit “Raptrous Alchemy” at —and brought Berkshire weather with them!
We have been juggling visits to Biennale events with intermittent feasting.
Fasting doesn’t exist in Italy! All while surviving the winds, rain and cold temperatures.
I still have not made it to the actual Biennale as I have had commitments around my own exhibition but promise to report on the Biennale soon. In the meantime, we went to Murano to see the Glasstress Exhibition at in Murano Island . We even managed a bit of shopping along the way. I am not an art glass expert but have included some of my favorites from Glasstress below.
Please find the link to the article under my bio.

Don’t worry, if you can not make it to Venice. During my residency there from April 18th to May 29th, I will regularly report on all the ongoing events and fun things to explore for the Berkshire Edge. Should you be in Venice during this time please reach out !
My show Rapturous Alchemy is in the beautiful 15th century Palazzo Bembo at the right by the Rialto Bridge.

This very kind and supportive post from Dr. Ziba Ardalan means the world to me and it honors me deeply that she took the time in her busy schedule to view my installation „Rapturous Alchemy“ at .
Ziba is an independent art curator. She cofounded and was the first director of the art organization in New York. In 2004, she started the Foundation for Contemporary Art in London. As if this were not enough she holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry.

In 2013 I was an International Artist in Residence at .art Studios, the predtigious International Residency Program in London for 3 months. Ziba was chosen as my mentor and was very generous and inspirational. I will never forget when she asked me why I wasn’t an abstract painter ! Two years later I made the move to abstraction and have never looked back.

It was beyond wonderful and meaningful to reconnect with her while we were both in Venice.
