Slightly off topic for us, but I didn't see a neighborhood group for posting. This pretty girl, whom we have dubbed Princess China II, of Torbie, has been hanging around the Museum. Can't tell if she is a community cat or snuck out of the house. If she snuck out and you miss her, she is hanging around Franklin St.

June is the month associated with the Roman Goddess Juno, known as Hera in Greek mythology. We posted earlier this week about Hera, now here is an example of Juno! The symbols for both are quite similar, so you can see a peacock by her side and a small chameleon on her arm. She was known to be compassionate to animals and a strong leader. Visit the museum to see this figurine in person!

The month of June is associated with the Greek Goddess Hera, known as Juno in Roman mythology. Hera is known as the Queen of Gods, embodying marriage, family, and love. Her symbols include peacocks, crowns, scepter, cows, and pomegranates. This piece shows the Goddess on a chariot being drawn by a peacock. Come into the museum to see this beautiful artwork in person!

More birth flowers!
The secondary birth flower for June is Honeysuckle. This beautiful plate is titled "Honeysuckle" by Jo Anne Keene. The artwork was donated to the museum by Catherine "Kay" Jacks in 2018. Happy June everyone!

Chickens in the Wash by Brenda Morgan-Moore
This oblong tray was donated to the museum by the artist in 2016 and is in Octavia's Corner. Today is National Rotisserie Chicken Day! This artwork shows these beautiful chickens in a washtub with red geraniums around them. Although a little morbid of a holiday, always remember the farmers who supply us! Come see these and more chicken artworks in the museum!
