Lonnie Christopher Art Follow for your daily dose of atmospheric art and the sublime! Emotional works created from conjured thoughts.

My work is not based in reality or any physical place. They are created in the moment with no reference or forethought. The outcome is the result of my process which I've developed over many years. Each piece represents some part of my life either conscious or unconscious. My hope is that you can feel where I was coming from and relate emotionally to what you are seeing. I appreciate any comments or thoughts on my work and pleases share if you think it will help brighten someone's day.

For years I treated my limits like an enemy to beat. The illness that took my contrast vision, the days my energy just isn't there — I fought all of it, and lost most of those fights.

What changed was realizing the limit wasn't stealing the work. It was shaping it. Every workaround, every tool I built, every system that let me keep going on a bad day — none of that would exist if I'd had unlimited hands and hours. The constraint made the practice.

So now when a day gives me less, I don't call it a loss. I make something inside the shape the day was willing to give. And it's still whole. Still mine. Still enough.

Stay strong,
Lonnie Christopher

I've been hard at work on a new project — one that takes the worlds I paint and turns them into places you can actually step into and explore.

It's not as detailed as the paintings yet, but it carries the same feeling — complete with sound, and a lot of ways to make it your own. I'm building this myself, so in a lot of ways it's just another art project to me, made the same way I make everything else.

Think of it as a small escape — somewhere to go for a few minutes when the day feels like too much. No judgment, no noise, just a place to breathe. I use it myself when I'm stressed, and it genuinely helps.

My most dedicated followers — the ones who've stuck with me — will get early access, free.

Can't wait to show you all. More soon. Until then, here's some eye candy.

The Return to Alignment

Woke up today to another good day, still feeling better and genuinely on the mend. Taking a quick break from a massive creative roll to eat lunch outside, get some fresh air, and feel the heat of the sun. But sitting out here, it’s also brought a lot of realizations about the mistakes I’ve been making lately.

When someone else needed me recently, I completely stepped out of my own routines. To be completely honest, that was 100% on me—it wasn't their fault at all. I just got so worried about them that I completely forgot about myself, letting my own health and diet slide because my mind was entirely consumed by what they were going through. It’s a pattern I fall into so easily, dropping my own boundaries the second a crisis hits. For a minute there, it felt like the momentum was completely broken and I'd ruined my progress.

It took stopping the relentless run for just a couple of days and intentionally correcting the behavior to realize how fast things want to heal when you actually stop neglecting them. It made me want to write down the text above.

I stumble with this stuff all the time, and I know I'm not the only one who lets the ball drop when life gets loud. Just wanted to be honest about the struggle today. We all drift, but it's never too late to just take a breath and step back in.

A Timeless Reflection

Spent some time rewriting/updating and reflecting on my history for the website's 'About' section today, and it got me thinking about how much we overlook our own foundations.

When you're a solo entrepreneur or a artist/creator, it’s easy to get caught up in the relentless grind of what's next—marketing you craft, new products/paintings, ideas, logistics. But some of the best breakthroughs happen when you stop running forward long enough to look at the raw materials you’ve already gathered. Your past experiences, your setbacks, and your unique perspective are the exact tools you need to start your next phase.

Feeling grateful for a clear head, less physical noise, and a wave of fresh energy today. Remember to give yourself credit for the miles you've already walked.

The Courage to Begin
july 8, 2026

I’ve been sitting with a lot of uncertainty lately about a major obligation coming up later this week, and it got me thinking about how much invisible energy goes into just preparing ourselves to face what’s ahead.

When you are already feeling depleted, just getting to the starting line can feel like a massive hurdle. It takes a lot of quiet courage to look at a daunting situation and decide to show up anyway.

If you are stressing over a heavy task or a tough week ahead, please give yourself some credit. Just choosing to step up to the plate and try is a massive win all on its own.

The last couple of years have felt like an underpainting season for me. Health challenges, quiet periods, and some heavy internal shifts took over the canvas. For a long time, it felt like the main work had stopped because the surface didn't look "finished."

But I'm realizing now that those hidden, invisible layers weren't lost time. They are exactly what is giving warmth, light, and perspective to the work ahead.

We all carry hidden layers that nobody else can see—seasons of struggle, quiet rebuilding, or patience that shape who we are. If you're in an underpainting phase right now where everything feels raw and unfinished, trust the process. It's giving depth to who you're becoming.

What hidden layers have shaped your perspective the most? I'd love to hear some of your stories in the comments.

Where I've Been, and What's Ahead

It's been a long time. Health made consistency hard, and rather than stay quiet indefinitely, I'd rather come back honest about it.

Here's what to expect going forward: fewer photos, more thinking out loud. I want this space to be about life, philosophy, and where creative people actually stand in the world right now — not just my work, but the bigger questions around it.

I hope you'll stick around. I have a lot of projects in the works that I'm genuinely excited about. And going forward, I'm not going to hide my health struggles from you the way I sometimes have — if something keeps me from posting, I'll say so honestly instead of just disappearing again.

I'd also love for this to become a place where you feel free to share your own struggles too. My art has always been about emotional journeys — mostly my own, and I think that was part of the mistake. I got too eccentric, too inward. I want to spend this next chapter turning that lens outward, toward all of you and your stories. There's a lot of beauty out there that isn't mine, and I'd like to help hold space for it.

Glad to be back.

Some pieces feel less like places and more like thresholds.

This new work continues my search for atmosphere, light, and the quiet emotional spaces that exist somewhere between memory and imagination. I have always been drawn to clouds, open horizons, and the kind of light that makes you pause for a moment without needing to explain why.

For me, this piece is not about a specific landscape. It is about the feeling of standing before something larger than yourself, where the world becomes still enough for your own thoughts to surface.

This artwork will be available soon as an exclusive large scale print.
