The Avalon Theatre Foundation

The Avalon Theatre Foundation The Avalon Theatre Foundation, Inc. is a private non-profit created to renovate and restore the Avalon Theatre.

is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1991 by Pat Gormley. Its original mission was the historic restoration of the beautiful Romanesque Revival building. It successfully undertook a fundraising effort that provided for the restoration of the theater's original 1923 façade. The Foundation continues to center its mission on historic preservation, generational heritage, and the continued

commercial operations of The Avalon Theatre. Today, it embodies an added sense of responsibility and vision aimed at propelling the facility into a true civic auditorium capable of accommodating a wider range of uses that support significantly improved commercial and cultural benefits to the community.

The Avalon Theatre Foundation would like to welcome another member to its Board of Directors: Scott Beilfuss

Scott is a 40-year transplant from Wisconsin. After a career in sales, Scott got involved with numerous local nonprofits and activist groups working on environmental, social, and economic equity issues. Two years ago, Scott was elected to the Grand Junction City Council and has served consecutive terms on the city's Arts and Culture board. He believes the arts are the glue that holds the Grand Valley people together.

As a current City Council Member, Scott has been instrumental in fighting for improvements at the theatre. With his help, we have accomplished a great deal this year.

The Avalon Theatre Foundation is proud to have new board members joining its ranks.

introducing: Jodi Niernberg

Jodi Niernberg, a Grand Junction native, moved away to pursue her education and career but ultimately chose to return to the valley and put down roots. Now a small business owner of two successful restaurants she runs with her husband, a boutique real estate firm, and the mother of two rambunctious boys, she’s proud to call Grand Junction home and raise her family here.

Jodi believes arts and hospitality are the heart and soul of any thriving city, and she remains deeply committed to championing and growing both.

Today, we would like to thank for their support of our foundation this past year.

With their support and from others like you, we have been able to uplift our public theatre, creating new benefits for our community groups and traveling artists alike.

As the year ends, we will be announcing some very exciting news to the Theatre and what performing groups will be able to expect from our venue space in the new year.

But for now, know that you can have an impact too! Pavers at the rooftop terrace are still available and can be purchased directly on our website.

As we near the end of the year, we would like to celebrate the number of accomplishments that we have achieved together. One of those being the new artwork you've probably seen hanging above the entrance to Encore Hall.

This is the long-awaited Save-A-Seat project, curated by local Artist Mary Ann Griffith. The beautiful artwork features the plaques of the old seats at the Avalon, purchased by YOU - our donors.

It is with great thanks to Mary, and to you, that our efforts are symbolized together as the Avalon continues to improve in the benefit of our community and those who call it home.
