Check out our “Macbeth” cast getting schooled in a movement workshop with guest artist, Michael Boyle.
At last week’s Tuesday evening rehearsal of Macbeth, we welcomed Michael Boyle, member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA, and co-founder of Theatre on Main Street in Washingtonville, NY, for an immersive workshop exploring Lee Strasberg’s Animal Exercise.
The Animal Exercise is an indispensable tool towards a deeper physical characterization of a role. It is a balanced outside-in/inside-out approach to acting and creating characters. It has been utilized by actors such as Marlon Brando, Claire Danes, Anthony Hopkins, and Lee J. Cobb.
Our cast chose an animal for their character in the play and explored the physical characterization, movement, and behavior of their chosen animal to deepen their understanding of and relationship to their character. Some animals chosen by cast members include a Scottish wolfhound, a spider, a toad, a sea lion, and a hawk.
We look forward to seeing you under the tent July 11, 12, 18, and 19 for our production of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth!” 🗡️🩸👑
