"That Castle"

I LOVE this view of Castle Rock. I see it constantly when I leave the creative campus at . I've done so many mini versions of this view, I wanted to branch out into a bigger (for me -ha!) depiction.
I started by toning the canvas with a cadmium orange and a yellow for a rich and dramatic base to contrast.
Next, I used procreate to capture the line work I wanted from one of the (many) reference photos I've taken over the years. I projected just the line work into the canvas .
I chose rich, matte colors for the rocks and did my thing filling in all of my sections.
Next was to add the line work back in.
I used varying shades of black and dark grey, alternating, to make sure I could truly capture the shape and depth of this particular view I love so much.
In this photo, I'm trying to record which of my (currently around 200) custom colors I'm using to get that dramatic sky.
The end result is a lovely, medium sized POP of COLOR. Great for nooks....
... Accentuating spaces....
... Or bringing energy (and hopefully a smile) to your daily spaces.
