Dallas CORE

Dallas CORE The Hatchery team is proud to represent the Dallas community in the C.O.R.E. project at Burning Man 2012. There will be eight eggs total.

This design was conceived to mechanically have an effigy change colors over time as it burns. This will be done via time released eggs suspended within a tower. As the effigy burns the eggs will drop into the fire below. The eggs will contain typical chemical compounds that burn colors (red, green white, etc). The eggs will also serve as a means to involve the larger North Texas community in creating the effigy. Seven eggs will represent each year of NTXB's Myschievia themes from 2005 - 2011. The eighth egg will represent the interaction of the 2012 Black Rock City Community. This effigy/art piece was derived over a period of several months in 2011. With the announcements of the Fertility 2.0 theme and the 2012 C.O.R.E. project, we knew we had found a logical home for The Hatchery and its eggs. The tower itself is an homage to Vladamir Tatlin’s “Monument to the Third International”. On viewing the tower one sees controlled chaos, which is representative of the Dallas burn community. We are constantly exploring and challenging, yet simultaneously able, strong and present for our fellow burners.
