Finished! This is the biggest painting I have ever done (5' x 6') and it was seriously a blast. I loved doing something this large and I LOVE doing little details. So MANY SIGNS. It was a commission piece for this fantastic couple I met. They are going to be opening an coffee shop on Market Street! They asked me to figure out what the building was before they purchased the space and in the 70's and 80's it was Schreiber and Miller Furniture Company.
Hi everybody. I am not going to be open for Artwalk. I was actually really looking forward to it but I have sold all my paintings. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for buying paintings and prints over the years or offering words of encouragement. You all have been so supportive and this has allowed me to live doing what I love. I have had a gallery now for four years and absolutely loved it. It has been so much fun. I have especially loved meeting all the people who walked through my doors. I have had so many great conversations and made so many friends. I am going to continue on this journey. I have a studio now where I will focus on painting, but most of all, I will be able to complete a video/film project I have invested a lot of time in over the years. I’m actually really excited about it. I will keep this page going. Hope to see you soon. Hugs!

CLOSING. Hi everyone! I hate doing this post, BUT I am closing my gallery at the end of October. No, not because things weren't going well. I love painting and I have been completely overjoyed by how supportive this community is of the arts. People really do buy original paintings and prints. It's wonderful. Artists can actually make a living doing what they love to do. The reason I'm closing is because I have been working on a film project for many years now and I am ready to work full time on it to bring it to completion. Actually I'm incredibly excited about it, and can't wait to take my creative energy and direct it completely into this project. If you are interested in having one of my paintings I have five originals left, and eleven giclees. Come in and shop or just to visit! I have had so much fun having a gallery in Galveston for the last four years. Thank you for your love and support! By the way, you can always order a giclee from me in the future. I have to share another photo from a customer. I got an email today from a wonderful woman named Katherine who commissioned me to do this painting for her office at the bank. She also bought lots of giclees to put down the hallways. It is so fun to see where my paintings end up. I love the frame she chose!

“Sultry” original oil on canvas. 30” x 40”. I was drawn to this image for so many reasons. I wanted to create a retro vibe, capturing the pure beauty of her face and demeanor. The smoke seems to float in the air. Her hair in rollers with a clip and the old radiator. I worked on the deltoid field making things clearer as they come into the forefront. The light coming through the window distorts the light creating a dreamlike ambiance. ………

My latest painting "Moon Motel", oil on canvas 24" x 36".
Here is the story behind the painting: I am a night owl and have always loved how the world looks at night. The stars in the sky, the moon, street lights and neon signs. When I was younger I drove across the United States many times by myself (and sometimes with friends) exploring little towns and big cities. I was always drawn to diners, gas stations and motels lit up with their neon signs. Especially after it rains. It makes the world look magical and mysterious, like anything is possible. I have decided I am going to move more into storytelling with my images and to paint images that inspire me personally. This being the first.
I feel like I am finally standing in the light at the end of the tunnel. For me as an artist the last two years inspired a time of self-reflection. I began to explore the direction I wanted to take my art and what I wanted to paint. Ideas began to take shape and then something happened in the last week that has given me the answers I needed. I woke up this morning invigorated to start the day. Today I feel the sun on my face.
The finished painting. This was a very large commission piece for a local resident on the island. I just love our beaches. They are so peaceful. Especially when you have the opportunity to see one of our spectacular sunrises.
I was drawn to paint this because I loved the point of view, so that's what I decided to call it, "Point of View". This is a large oil painting, 30" x 40". Can you hear the waves coming in? I love how the foam creates these awesome patterns and the water is clear enough to show the rocks and depth of the land underneath. God is the real artist here. :)
I scanned three of my latest paintings this week, so here is the first. A few people requested that I paint a horse so here it is. I was happy to do it because I just love horses and had always hoped to have one at some point in my life. I love riding them and find them so incredibly beautiful. This is an oil on canvas 18" x 24".

Thank you so much Ruth Rickman for not only writing this article, but releasing it on Mother's Day! What a wonderful surprise. One of the important things I try to teach my daughter is to live every day to the fullest and to pursue her dreams.
While searching for a new gallery spot and was busy painting. This is another new one I decided to call "Painted Sky". I had a few people request a large sunrise in Galveston to go over their couch or bed so here it is. This one is 30" x 48", (oil on gallery wrap canvas).

The first Artwalk of 2021 was a huge success! The weather was absolutely perfect and people were happy to be out. A special shoutout and thank you to Eddie Salinas for providing the music and making it such a festive event and to my husband for always being by my side.

This has been the year of commissions! It was an absolute joy to work with this former Galveston local. He wanted memories of his time here to put in his dining room. I love it when customers send me photos of their art on the walls. It feels complete.

A man who grew up on the island wanted to have some art on his walls that brought back good memories for him. He loved La Kings as a boy and had a vision for this painting. He described how he wanted it to feel and look without knowing the name of the style. I had never attempted this style but was excited to give it a try. So here is La Kings Confectionery, a landmark and one of my favorite spots on the island.
"Bend" an original abstract landscape painting. After so many realistic paintings it was great to get back to this style. It's cathartic.

I wanted this oil painting to show the beauty and grace of our pelican's by focusing on the reflections in the water. I'm hoping this adds a little brightness and positive energy to your day. It was done in oil 24" x 36".

I went to a garage sale here on the island and purchased a bag full of old photographs. As I went through them I saw one taken on 33rd street in the 70s and knew I wanted to paint it. I just love the vibe of this with the pale yellow 1973 Grand Torino, the telephone pole and several wires marking the sky, the trees showcasing the streetlight, and shadows showing the dip in the street.
What an incredible Artwalk. The weather was absolutely perfect and everyone had a great time. I sold three originals, including “Voodoo” and this one to Nicole Bates called “Young Love”. (The third was an abstract off my easel I hadn’t named yet). Yay. They went to good homes.
