I’ve been curious about what to do with all of my leftover fiber bits. Something about giving them new life made me kinda emotional- like in a happy, be free teary eyed joyous kinda way. I’m really enjoying the way the sun lights them up.

Friggen broke down crying this morning friends. I’m ok- just feeling my feelings and i am not a fan. Im sure some of ya’ll know what I’m talking about. Sigh.
When Im facing intense feelings, i always find it calming to get my hands in some yarn. The colors and softness are such great comfort for my soul. ♥️

Out of my quest for learning how to art my way through grief, came this bittersweet piece.
With nothing particular in mind- just feeling and breathing and layering and painting- The Tire Swing was birthed.
Potawatomi park in St. Charles Illinois- dad used to take my brother, sister and I there. There was a giant tire swing made from a truck tire. So huge that us littles could fit inside of it. One of the few happy memories I have with dad.
As painful as making this piece was, I am so grateful. I know that it is a gift and I will cherish it.

How do we art our way through grief?
My dad passed away on September 30th, after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis less than a year ago.
Our relationship wasn’t always easy, but as he grew older, he softened — and I’m deeply grateful that he came to know Christ before he left this world.
He was a musician and an avid gardener, so in many ways, we shared the same creative roots. 💜
Now, as I move through this loss, I find myself wondering: how do I utilize art — color, sound, texture, creation — to hold what words can’t?
Maybe I don’t find answers, maybe just small pieces of beauty to help carry the weight of what could have been, and what was.
