The geometry of nature- the first art. ❤️
If you cultivate a mushroom in a petri bowl on agar agar, its actual ′′ shape ′′ becomes visible. The essential part of a mushroom, the Mycel, is usually hidden from our eye. What we perceive as a ′′ mushroom ′′ is only its transient fruit body.

Our daughter’s Homecoming look was full of thrifted, vintage pieces, and artisanal handmade wares. Not traditional, but so full of detail & creativity. It was fun watching this come together. ❤️
Beautiful and fascinating!
Clifton Day was a fun day of artisan wares & antiques with my little fashionista. We loved the mushrooms from The Fruitful Forest 🍄!

This toolbox is art.
The Studley Toolbox in all of its organized glory (created between 1890 and 1920).
This beauty is 20×40 inches when closed (40×40 inches when open) and contains 300 tools within its carefully crafted mahogany rosewood, ebony, and mother-of-pearl case. The tool chest was created by mason, carpenter, and piano maker H.O. Studley. Born in 1838 in Lowell, Massachusetts.
This looks dreamy!
An open air school in 1957, Netherlands. In the beginning of the 20th century a movement towards open air schools took place in Europe. Classes were taught in forests so that students would benefit physically and mentally from clean air and sunlight.

Button tins never get old!
My grandmother saved everything that could be reused! I remember looking at her button tin. Many of the various size, shape & color buttons had a story of where they came from! ❤️
Oooooohhhh. 🧶

OMG. Smart!
A few measuring tapes and you get an adjustable door!
Neat idea!
"I love waking up to this every morning. When my parents died we inherited all of the family slides. My daughter drilled holes on all 4 sides and bought large jump rings and made a curtain out of it for my window. Depending on the position of the sun throughout the day it reflects the most beautiful patterns onto the walls and floors."

And now “Jimmy Red” – whose kernels look like pomegranate seeds – is making a comeback via a craft whiskey maker in Charleston, South Carolina A little over a century ago, an ancient Native American corn species made its way from Appalachia to the islands of Charleston, South Carolina. It [....

Beautiful antique spindles and bobbins. Irresistible.
This Tunbridge ware spool holder dates to ca.1850. Tunbridge ware is a form of decoratively inlaid woodwork that originated in the tourist town of Tunbridge Wells in England.
Tunbridge ware uses the technique of marquetry to form complex patterns that were adhered to wooden objects. These were much favourite items for tourists to bring home from holiday in the town.
This spool holder would have been a very attractive item that would have sat on a table - close at hand - to dispense sewing thread.
This was sold on an auction site.
Interesting!
Embroiderers aren't the only ones who needed to practice their stitches. This is a surgical suture sampler from the 18th century. It shows all the different techniques that were used to close wounds and incisions used in surgeries of the time. It's now in the collection of the Institute and Museum of the History of Medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. http://www.mhiz.uzh.ch/index_en.html
Did it work for you? 4/4 in this house! 😆
😉
Haven’t decided if Guy at ruined this photo, or perfected it. 😆 On another note, anyone know which tartan pattern this kilt is?
Sewing. It’s a true mystery to me. But, the fabrics and the textures and the colors…Love. Our daughter has taken to sewing and made her first machine project by designing and creating this beautiful cape for Fairfax Comic Con 2022! The Cosplay is based on the character of Wirt from Over The Garden Wall! So taken with this pretty make! 🪡🧵🍂
Not fiber-related. Just genius-related. 😆 Awesome Halloween idea.

So very gorgeous!
When the sun hits the outside of these ice caves at Mt Rainier just right, they turn into rainbow ice caves!!! I could not believe my eyes 🤯 I went up to Mt Rainier specifically to explore the ice caves and never imagined they would be SO COLORFUL 🌈
I did not enhance the colors at all in the images I will share with you all!! It was really THAT COLORFUL!! I will post a video I took of the moment in the comments 😀 I never would have guessed that this existed in America much less so close to home!!! The hike really wasn't that difficult either!!!
We happened to be there at just the right time!! The colors lasted for about 2 hours then the vibrancy diminished as the day progressed!
I have so many more photos to show you all!! This was one of the best experiences of my life so I took a ton of photos that I can't wait to share!!
This was by far one of the most magical things I have ever witnessed!! Even though it was very cold exploring these ice caves I did not want it to end!! I can't wait to go back and explore some more!!! The beauty of the Pacific NorthWest is absolutely mind boggling!!! 😍
Beautiful! Have you tried quilling before? This level of detail is amazing!
When we stayed on Tortola island, every time we went to the beach we saw a white egret. So, ladies and gentlemen, here’s my egret at sunset on Tortola 🌴
I’m always down for a great shoe and my family knows it. Thanks, , for Ms. Francoise by 👞 Awesome birthday surprise! ❤️
Our coastal shelf to remember beautiful Hawaii! 🏝
A lotus flower up close! We’ve never seen these gorgeous flowers before but we love pickled lotus root. Our daughter pulled lotus silk fibers from the stem! Did you know beautiful textiles are made from these fibers?
This is too cool! 🗺
"When first approaching the artwork of Japanese artist Takahiro Iwasaki it’s entirely possible you might miss it altogether. Not only are his small buildings and electrical towers excruciatingly small and delicate, but they also rest on absurdly mundane objects: rolls of tape, a haphazardly wrinkled towel, or from the bristles of a discarded toothbrush. Only on close inspection do the small details come into focus, faint hints of urbanization sprouting from disorder. My favorite pieces are his topographical maps that have been carefully cut from thick rolls of gray and blue electrical tape." -ThisIsCollassal.com
Hawaii was magical! The black sand beach was my fave. 🌴
Found the perfect piece to bring back from our visit to The Big Island in Hawaii! A beautiful Polynesian bib necklace made of macrame & shells. The stand it comes with will be perfect for display to remind us of this beautiful family vacation. 🐚
Okay, Hawaii. I get it. You’re gorgeous. 🌴
Aloha, Kona! 🌴

Wow!!!!
No scissors. No glue. Just a single sheet of paper, determination, and skill. Oh, and LOTS of patience.
But, it can still be about knitting. 😆

So pretty. 🧶🌈
