DANCER OF THE WEEK 🌟

Big shoutout to our first Dancer of the Week, Senior & Team Captain Ella Hayward! 💃✨

Ella brings so much talent and leadership to our team. Her favorite dance styles are Jazz and Hip Hop! She’s also a rockstar in the classroom—earning her Academic letter 3 years in a row, a 4-year Varsity Poms letterman, and named an NDA All-American both her Junior and Senior years! 🏆👏

When she’s not dancing, you can find her at the gym or hanging out with friends!

Kerri enters her 15th season as Director and Head Coach of the Fruita Monument High School Poms Team, bringing 38 years of total coaching experience in gymnastics and dance. A proud FMHS Class of 1990 graduate, Kerri transitioned from competitive gymnastics to dance during high school, going on to win the NDA National Soloist Championship in 1989 with a dance scholarship. She later attended Mesa State College and traveled nationwide as an NDA Staff instructor. Kerri began her FMHS coaching journey when her daughters, Kayla and Jaelyn—both Poms alumni—were a senior and freshman, respectively. Her deep passion for dance and love for her dancers have kept her coaching ever since. She is truly thankful for the opportunity to coach alongside her daughter, Jaelyn. Kerri also co-owns Legacy Gymnastics & Ninja Academy with her husband, Brian.

Jaelyn grew up in Grand Junction and spent much of her childhood as a competitive gymnast, where her family runs Legacy Academy. Her dance journey began with the Fruita Monument High School Poms team, she continued dancing at the collegiate level with the Colorado State Golden Poms, and then professionally for the Denver Outlaws Dance Team. She ultimately fulfilled her biggest dream by spending three incredible seasons as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader!

Beyond performing, coaching brings Jaelyn the most joy. She currently coaches the Fruita Monument High School Poms Team, returning to where her own journey began! She also brings years of experience coaching and choreographing for gymnasts and dance teams at both the high school and collegiate level around the state.
