Studied with last year and not only explored the history of Dutch floral paintings but discussed many painting techniques and materials, and this spring planted tulips in my garden. This is a study from my first grown tulip. Carlo is interesting, talented and his commitment to sharing his knowledge is rewarding.

WIPI’ve repainted this one so many time. Finally happy with the results. Hope to put finishing touches on soon.

This sold last night. It’s oil on canvas, 60 x 48. I worked on the set up for three days. I was going to paint it with a flame coming out of the apple but accidentally knocked it over and loved the smoke coming off it. I ended up with the canvas when I was at the art store in Santa Fe and a woman was arguing with staff about it being the wrong custom size. The store manager offered it to her for half price but she left. I told him I’d buy it for the price he offered it to her and he gave it to me. Lots of fun stories about traveling the country with this piece. Will miss her.
