Dad’s Art Adventures Hi! Welcome to Dad's Art Adventures! This journey began as a way to cope with a tough time by exploring public art.

We started by stumbling upon murals and quickly got hooked.

It is with a heavy heart that I must related the passing of Dad, the inspiration for Dad's Art Adventures. He went peacefully in his sleep while in hospice care. The last year of his life was filled with art and music. We discovered new public art and shared those discoveries with others. With Dad as our guide, our hunts became incredible journeys. Along the way we met extraordinary people. We were even blessed to participate in the creation process by a new artist friend, America Carrillo.

Searching for and sharing the art we found was a real joy to Dad. So, in that spirit, we will continue to share what we had found. I believe Dad would have wanted us to. When we have exhausted our supply, we will then determine if we should continue with future hunts. Please, let us know of your opinion on this, although we will ask again when the time comes.

We wish to thank some of the artists and associations we encountered on this journey. You will never know the impact you had on us.

🌸 Spring is Blooming at Ambrosia Orchard! 🌸

Who says bike racks can’t be high art? 🚲🎨 ‘Power Grid’ by architect-turned-artist George Morrison is proof that functional design and artistic expression go hand in hand. Originally created as part of the Sculptures With Purpose bike rack project for Purdue Fort Wayne, this piece now sits at Maysville Circle, where it can’t actually be used as a bike rack. But hey, who needs practicality when you’ve got style? ⚡✨

Mr. Morrison, a Vietnam-era veteran and former architect, found his professional artistic calling later in life, proving that creativity has no expiration date! With a background in ceramics and a passion for public art, he’s left his mark in Fort Wayne in the most electrifying way. Next time you’re in the area, drive around the traffic circle and admire this industrial-inspired sculpture—just don’t try to park your bike there.

"Take me out to the ballgame... or at least to ACME by Full Circle to check out this home-run mural! 🎨⚾ Created by local artist Kyle Snodgrass of Rough Draft Design, this vibrant tribute to Parkview Field is bursting with Fort Wayne pride. From the high schools featured on the outfield banners (shoutout to Snider, Dwenger, Concordia, Northrup and Northside!) to the unmistakable TinCaps mascot Johnny blending into the crowd, this mural is like a “Where’s Waldo” for baseball lovers and Fort Wayne fans alike. 🏟️✨

Perched on the wall of 1105 E. State Blvd., the mural isn’t just about baseball; it’s a celebration of the city, with a colorful depiction of Fort Wayne’s iconic downtown skyline and a nod to East State Village. Whether you're a TinCaps superfan or just out for a stroll, stop by and soak in this art that knocks it out of the park.

✨ "Pillars of Hope and Justice" is an awe-inspiring tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s powerful 1963 visit to Fort Wayne. Designed by Shane Allbritton and Norman Lee of RE:site Studio (reside-studio.com), this sculpture at 698 Ewing Street is a striking fusion of art and history. Rising majestically, the golden pillars feature the text of Dr. King's local speech, where he shared his six principles of nonviolent resistance. Though no full recording of his speech exists, the Allen County-Fort Wayne Historical Society carefully reconstructed it using local newspaper archives. Talk about dedication to preserving history! 👏

This public art piece invites reflection and connection, encouraging us all to live by principles of hope and justice. 🌟 Whether you're exploring the Fort Wayne Public Art Trail or on your own , this stunning installation is a must-see for art and history lovers alike. 🖤✨

Tag your fellow explorers and come experience a piece of history brought to life!
