Today is the last day of Thread Weight please come visit and enjoy the art and and gorgeous gallery. Curating this exhibition of brilliant fiber artists was a phenomenal experience, and working with Heather of made it even better. I’ll be sharing more photos from the show and a new piece which I made especially for Thread Weight. We would love to see you between 12-2!

Happy New Year? This was finished on Jan 1, but it never made it to a post. after a long unintentional break from socials, there are several posts with exciting news to catch up on. I wanted something to express the chaotic nature of 2025’s start. Yesterday’s St Stephen’s Day Sampler Stitching. Hand stitching is always a welcome break, especially outside in December. This handled wooden box is the business for keeping thread clean and ready to go (plus has space for losts of samplers). I am hoping for a lot more porch sewing days in 2025!

Getting a start on some homemade gifts this year. A scrappy fish light for an early Hanukkah gift made only a tiny dent in my scraps, but I loved using some of my favourite 12wt blue threads. The last few photos show some of the progress steps, minus the hand sewing-oops! The wooden fish kit was from and was probably intended to be painted, but I saw it’s destiny to become a scrappy fabric fish.

There are only a few more days to get out and VOTE! Please make your vote count. I am loving this VOTE quilt pattern by and the colourful reminder to make your voice heard. The VOTE quilt was an easy choice to make as part of the 3-2-1 challenge, using 3+ colours of thread, 2+ different thread weights of each colours, and all in 1 project. The pattern’s FPP letter were quick to sew using mostly CF scraps, and I added in some purple for all of the things that should be nonpartisan. Adding a variety of thread weights and colours made a great challenge and made me step outside my typical 🧵picks.

I am in awe of the new 8wt collection from and which is launching in just a few days! There 20 gorgeous colours in the Indelible collection of wound on Aurifil’s beautiful and convenient wooden spools. I hand quilted organic circle stitching to a boiler suit that needed a little extra something, then sewed the buttons back on using all the colours. This has been an enjoyable and relaxing portable project. The 8wt glides so well through the linen and colours remind me of a beautiful set of watercolour paints.

Aurifil 8wt colours used: 1125, 1148, 2120, 2510, and 2880.
