Our incredible local artist Kim Bollinger Pickell is organizing Florence-Food Share’s 29th annual Empty Bowls event, a successful and meaningful collaboration in our community.

If you arent in the loop yet… Local artists contribute handmade bowls and art for sale the first weekend of December - Empty Bowls. They also have an opportunity to design the event poster too!

They are seeking artwork that conveys their mission to provide nutritious food to those in need.

Poster:To be considered for creating the poster art for 2025, email your concept and a photo of a previous work to Kim Pickell at kpickell63 at gmail.com by September 1, 2025. The final, unframed artwork will be due no later than September 30, 2025.

Get your 15 minutes of fame this weekend in Old Town! Don’t miss July's 2nd Saturday Gallery Tour special guest, "Melissa "Mel B" Jones, aka the Kazoober from KXCR, 90.7FM at Serene Abundance Studio, 148 Maple Street. She will be playing tunes, giving out kazoos and recording a show for our local Community Radio Station between 3 and 5:00 pm. Sign up for a brief interview to share your thoughts about our Gallery Tour experience, local arts and culture. Play a silly Kazoo song along with Studio staff and be aired on the radio! (Airtime to be announced later) We want this to be a Gallery Tour to be remembered!

Jennifer McKenzie, Siuslaw School District's favorite K12 Teacher Librarian, will be giving a presentation on her artwork at 3pm this 2nd Saturday, February 8th, at Serene Abundance Studio Space, 148 Maple Street in Old Town Florence.

Her 2-D work uses Daniel Smith PrimaTek watercolors, beautiful paints made with semi-precious rocks and minerals that are known for unique granulation. She will describe her use of these special paints, as well as stitching, in her nature inspired and nature infused paintings. Guests will also have a chance to try out a little watercolor painting of their own during the event!

Ms. McKenzie is a mixed-media artist and educator of 20+ years. She is a Fulbrighter, global educator and traveler, and champion of innovation and diversity in education. Her investigation of nature is translated through watercolor, ink, acrylic, stitching, embroidery and beadwork.
