What do you do when you win the Shoals Dragonboat Festival - you take a dip in the river. Congratulations to the Power team from Northwest Shoals Community College for your first place finish. Second place was First Southern Bank and third was North American Lighting, Inc. Our team spirit went to Forest Hills Elementary School, our team tent went to Southwire and the Drummer Award went to North American Lighting. It was an amazing day. Thanks to all who were part of this year’s competition. Standby for pictures during the week.

Here is everything you need to know about tomorrow's Shoals Dragon Boat Festival.

Admission is FREE.
Our opening ceremony begins at 8:30 with our National Anthem sung by Miss Alabama, Ruby Tilghman.
The races are set to begin shortly after 9:00.
Around 11:30, we have our crowd favorite - the drummers' parade.
Then shortly after 12:15, the races start back up with the final heats of the day.

We have lots of arts and craft vendors, along with food from Ramon J's, Donut NV, C&C Eats, Muncho's Sparks BBQ, Taste of Maine and Sweet Home Sodas.

In addition, we have a kids' zone with inflatables, and you can meet some of our Miss AL titleholders for autographs and pictures.

Set on such a stunning background, these 5 teams are learning teamwork and friendly competition.

Come cheer on your favorite team on Saturday as we kickoff the day at 8:30 with races lasting until around 2:00. Admission is free.

Our final team introduction goes to the faculty and staff at Northwest Shoals Community College. Led by President Dr. Jeff Goodwin, the Patriots are one of our most loyal supporters. You can believe that this group embodies teamwork and spirit and always have a great time. We are so thankful for our partnership with NWSCC and their commitment to helping young folks in our community. Come cheer on the Patriots and all of our teams this Saturday at the Shoals Dragon Boat Festival.

Night 2 of practice had two newbies - Renaissance Shoals Resort & Spa and Forest Hills Elementary School taking to the water. Both teams brought it with their practices and are in contention for the top spot.
