🌈 Q***r History Friday 🌈

This week, we honor Tomika Taylor.

Some people perform. Some people build community. Tomika did both.

She wasn't just someone you saw on a stage. She was the person backstage making sure everyone else had what they needed. Need a little makeup? Lash glue? Hairspray? If Tomika had it, it was yours. No questions asked.

I always called her Mamaw, we'd end up crossing paths at so many open stages over the years. She always had a story to tell, and sitting down to talk with her felt like getting a warm hug from home.

She'd always laugh and tell me, "You're gonna regret doing all them flips, dips, and splits when you get my age." We'd both crack up because, honestly... she was probably right.

Tomika gave so much of herself to the people around her. She showed up. She cared. She made people feel welcome. That's the kind of legacy that doesn't disappear.

Q***r history isn't just the names you'll find in books. It's the people who quietly hold our communities together. The ones who mentor us, laugh with us, cheer us on, and remind us why we keep creating.

Today, we honor Tomika Taylor.

May her kindness continue through every artist who lends a hand backstage, every performer who welcomes someone new, and every community member who chooses love over ego.

Rest easy, Mamaw. We'll keep the show going. 💚

🎭 Throw-it-Back Thursday 🎭

I wasn't always KREG, and I may not stay KREG forever. Who knows?

When I first started drag, my original persona was Stefani Allure. The name came from something deeply personal, and the spelling was inspired by Lady Gaga.

Was I polished? Absolutely not.

Had I figured my makeup out? Nope.

I don't even think I wore lashes because I couldn't figure out how to glue them on. Looking back at this 2014 all-concealer face, I can't help but laugh... but at the time? I thought I was top shelf.

And honestly, that's the point.
The makeup didn't make me an entertainer. The passion did. I knew the rest would come with time, and it did.

Some of the best art is messy. Some of the best artists are constantly changing, reworking, and reinventing themselves. Art doesn't have to fit a mold, and it definitely doesn't have to be finished to have value.

So don't stop creating.
Keep making weird things. Keep making beautiful things. Keep making things that only you could make.
Your art is worth it.
