The City of McDonough is seeking design submissions from artists for a new mural project in downtown McDonough!
The McDonough City Council voted at its Sept. 3 regular meeting to approve a private/public partnership between the city and the owners of the building at 21/23 Hampton Street (aka SignCraft and DW Smith Design Group).
The agreement is to seek and commission an artist to paint a mural of the original McDonough Fire Station and a Dalmatian dog on the side of the building to honor its initial use.
The cost of the project will not exceed $8,000. It will be paid from the budgets of Main Street McDonough, McDonough Beautiful and McDonough Tourism.
Deadline to submit sketches is Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

Calling all artists and musicians! I am in charge of a monthly downtown event in Senoia called Alive After Five! It is every 3rd Friday of each month. I am looking for artists and musicians that may want to set up outside local shops on Main & Barnes street from 5-8 next Friday 9/18. It is a free event, no vendor fees, just a fun night for people to come out and walk downtown while shops stay open late and local artists/ musicians perform & paint and sell some of their art. We have an outdoor alcohol consumption approved for the evening so it should be a pretty fun night ! If you know anyone who would be interested please have them email [email protected] . The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center is hosting a series of webinars on Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7 to discuss the resources available to small business owners through the CARES Act.
Partnering with the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the webinars will help answer questions and provide support for small businesses throughout Georgia.
