Don’t Forget December 6th is St. Nicholas Day!!

“Well now, let me tell you about old St. Nicholas. Long before red coats and reindeer, he was a real man living nearly seventeen centuries ago, in a seaside town called Myra, far across the ocean. He was a bishop there, known for protecting the vulnerable and stepping in when no one else would.

He had a habit of helping people quietly. If a family was in trouble, he’d find a way to slip gold or food to their doorstep without a word. If sailors were caught in storms, they prayed for his help, and tales spread of ships making it home against all odds. Over the years, folks came to trust him as someone who looked out for children, travelers, and anyone having a hard season.

His feast day, December sixth, became a time for giving. As centuries rolled on, different countries kept different parts of his story, but the heart of it stayed the same: kindness offered without expecting anything back. When people speak of Santa Claus today, they’re really talking about the legacy of St. Nicholas carried forward in a new suit and a new century.

So when I visit each year, I’m simply continuing the work he began long ago: helping, encouraging, and reminding everyone that generosity is still a powerful force in this world.”
