Veteran’s Day performance with a couple of my students! The one in blue it was her first solo ! They both did a wonderful job! We were able to sing to a Veteran who was bed bound due to complications with covid he said for 2 years Ugh! Notice the red crocheted Poppy? It was the only thing her Mother brought back from Europe . I love what her Mother is teaching her:)

I haven’t used this page in awhile . Cuz I’ve been using other media platforms . I’ve decided to use it today:)
I love what I learn from my students !
This morning 2 things stick out to me the most .
1st student we talked about how everything used to be easy for her. Now she’s graduated from Highschool and she said she’s got to really work hard.
She’s in a musical now and has to dance a huge dance then sing a solo .
She asked me my advice on how she can do it ,I told her wish I could tell her there was a short cut . That she’s gotta do the hard dance and then sing her solo everyday. She can’t just go running and sing. Her muscle memory will remember what she’s doing . There have been moments on stage where I can’t remember what’s coming up and my body will sing the words and dance the dance because of all the rehearsing and I say to my body phew! Thank you for doing that lol.
In the lesson we talked about consistency and hard work. Some people think once you are a professional you don’t have to work at it. Some people’s parents when they come to lessons said they thought people just got up and sang they had no idea the work that goes into it.
Even as a professional you have to put in at least 2&1/2 hours of practice everyday if you have a 2&1/2 hour gig coming up for your muscles do be in shape so that you can have the tonality, dimension , color, texture and endurance to do so.
My other student this morning is a therapist and she said you cannot get your clients to go where you don’t dare go yourself and that is why she is taking voice lessons.
What a courageous and wise soul!
