Countless hours of practice, unwavering dedication, and a commitment to excellence have brought our students to this moment. Every early morning, challenge overcome, and note perfected has prepared them for the incredible honor of performing at Carnegie Hall.

As they rehearse one last time before departure, we celebrate not only their musical achievements but also the hard work, perseverance, and passion that made this opportunity possible. Carnegie Hall awaits, and they have truly earned every step of this remarkable journey. 🎼❤️

String Orchestra is commissioning orchestral jazz music for next season!

Selected composer Randy Sabien has over 40 years of performing experience as a contemporary violinist. He founded the string department at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1978 and then thirty years later headed the string department at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul. He is the author of the groundbreaking jazz method for strings “Jazz Philharmonic,” and has recorded a dozen albums.

DMYS will welcome Mr. Sabien on site to work with our students next season, and String Orchestra will premiere this music next spring!

Graduating senior Zane Lyle said that on Sunday, and we think it captures DMYS pretty well.

Our Rising Winds & Brass Academy students and String Orchestra students have been working toward playing as a full orchestra. Similar sections across each orchestra first joined in rehearsals to listen to other parts, and then the entire group joined together to play. These middle school students will perform together for the first time as a full orchestra at our May 3rd performance!

Today all of our students got the opportunity to collaborate during break for a fun game!!!

Students were told a story and every time our Symphony Conductor conducted, the students had to act out what was going on with in the story!!!! And students with the best acting skills won prizes!!!

Not only is DMYS about make music, we are also about creating a family!!!!
