My last living grandmother, Grandma Linda, died today and I saw so many beautiful butterflies at the wedding I helped photograph today.

The first two photos are of my Grandma Ida who passed away a few years ago, and my Grandma Linda. I think these are some of the only photos I ever photographed of both of them. As always, wishing I had spent more time with them and more time taking photos 💖 the very last photos are butterflies I photographed another day, years ago but let's pretend I was able to photograph the dozens I saw today 🖤

Hold the ones you love close. As much of an illusion time spent alone can be, it's not when you spend it with someone you love.

If you don't make time for your relatives, all you'll be left holding is guilt & regret when they're gone.

All my love and prayers to my family who are grieving the loss of our grandma.

I'm moving a lot more slowly with my photography business this year. I have ideas percolating but also coming to terms with setting realistic expectations with the amount of time I can devote to art.

It hurts my heart a little to recognize I need to slow down, especially while still working a demanding full-time job. I do enjoy my full-time job, it's an ever changing challenge, and it allows me to grow my technical skills. However, I adore and love creating art. Art feeds my soul and helps me still feel whole and real. I'm not sure the point of this caption, aside from wishing I had more time (always).

In January, I had the honor of attending the Beyond the Portrait workshop, hosted by the incredibly talented ♥ I am so grateful for the experience and for the chance to learn from Jonny. His knowledge is deep and generous, and I still return to the notes I took that day.

The workshop also offered space to connect with a number of phenomenal artists. A few of the gifted souls I met include .negative, .thephotographer, and .

Editing these images has felt intimidating (and still does), in part because they are stylistically different from the work I have done before. Still, I wanted to share five photographs created in collaboration with the brilliant souls who brought this workshop to life: Jonny, the models, the makeup artist Oksana, and my fellow photographers. I hope I have done them justice, and I am excited to continue exploring and playing within this style ♥
