I donā€™t usually make posts like this, but right now my art has an especially meaningful purpose. ā¤ļø

As we navigate losing my mother-in-law, one of the things I would really like to do is purchase a beautiful urn for her, along with small keepsake urns for her immediate family so that each of the people who loved her most can keep a little piece of her close.

So, if youā€™ve been thinking about purchasing a Sacred Spill print or one of my available originals, now would be an incredibly meaningful time to do it.

For the time being, the money from my art sales will be going toward helping us purchase her urn and the keepsakes for our family.

Iā€™m not looking for anything for nothingā€”I would much rather send a piece of my heart out into the world through my art while using it to help us honor someone we loved so very much.

As Far As I Could Follow

I painted this on my iPad while sitting in the hospital with my mother-in-law during the last days of her life.

At the time, I wasnā€™t trying to make a painting about grief or death. I was just making. Giving my hands somewhere to put what I didnā€™t have words for yet.

Looking at it now, I think my hands knew before I did.

There are places the people we love eventually have to go without us.

And maybe one of the greatest acts of love we can offer is to go with them as far as we can.

To sit beside them.
To hold their hand.
To talk to them.
To remind them who has been there and how deeply they are loved.

To stay.

And then, when we reach the place where we can no longer follow, to trust that our love has carried them as far as it possibly could.

I would have followed you farther if I could.

But I went with you as far as I could. ā¤ļø

I have a new watercolor series stirringā€¦

THE WILD HEART COLLECTION
an exploration of the creatures we love but never truly tame.

And I need your horses. šŸ¤Ž

Iā€™m looking for reference photos of real horses to inspire this collection ā€” your horse, a horse you love, your friendā€™s horse, your grandmaā€™s horseā€¦ send them my way.

And Iā€™m not necessarily looking for the ā€œperfectā€ horse photo.

Give me the windblown manes. The muddy noses. The weird angles. The movement. The soft eyes. The old souls. The ridiculous personalities. The quiet moments. The photos that may not technically be perfect, but somehow feel like them.

A few important details:

āœØ This is not a commission call. Submitting a photo doesnā€™t guarantee Iā€™ll paint it, and if I do, Iā€™ll be following my own intuition with the colors, composition, details and direction of the piece.

āœØ If I choose one of your photos as inspiration, Iā€™ll reach out and let you know.

āœØ If your photo inspires a finished painting, youā€™ll get first dibs on purchasing the original before I offer it publicly.

āœØ Please only submit photos you took yourself or have permission from the photographer to allow me to use as an artistic reference.

I donā€™t want to simply paint portraits of horses.

I want to see what happens when their movement, personalities, stories and wildness meet watercolor.

āœØ In Her Breath āœØ

Sometimes what we are searching for isnā€™t somewhere out in the world.

Sometimes itā€™s waiting in the quiet space between one breath and the next.

In Her Breath grew from my own journey of learning to slow down, to soften, and to notice the simple act of breathing. There have been seasons where I forgot my own breathā€”where life felt rushed, heavy, or disconnected. This painting became a gentle reminder that peace doesnā€™t always arrive with answers. Sometimes it begins with a single inhale.

I hope this piece invites you to pause. To unclench your jaw. To soften your shoulders. To remember that your breath has been carrying you through every joy, every grief, every ordinary day without asking for anything in return.

If it encourages even one person to come back to themselves for a moment, then it has already done what it was meant to do.

Art in the Park āœØ

There is something so special about seeing art in person. Today I packed up a little piece of my heart and brought Sacred Spill Art to Detroit Lakes.

I met another artist who reminded me so much of myself just a few months agoā€”wanting to share her work, but not quite feeling confident enough to call herself an artist. I watched people stop with wonder in their eyes as they connected with pieces in ways I never could have predicted. Familiar faces found original watercolors to take home. I even had an art teacher tell me I shouldnā€™t paint a person without a head. šŸ¤£

I think thatā€™s one of my favorite things about sharing art: every conversation is different. Every person brings their own story, their own perspective, and sometimes even their own critique. It all becomes part of the experience.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to look, chat, share what you saw, or take a piece home with you. Those conversations are one of my favorite parts of this journey. šŸ¤šŸ¦‹
