So excited to share “Hardy County Blues” with you all today! Big thanks to wildscape. literary journal for giving this one such a nice home. Be sure to check out all of the incredible work in the new issue (free to read online).

I maintain that West Virginia is a complicated place, like most rural places. It’s been a goal of mine as a writer to make sure I am meeting nostalgia with honesty. To show the dark with the light. This is a darkness poem.

My latest Substack post examines the creative spaces that have impacted me as a person and as an artist. Sadly, many of these locations are struggling to keep the doors open.

I only send one post to your inbox a month from my Substack. It’s a nice way for me to share creative writing with you in a low-stakes way. It’s also a great way to keep up with readings, music performances, publishing news, and more.
