Arts & Culture Mini-Grants Now Open for Application The Fairfield Cultural Alliance (FCA) is proud to announce that NOW is the time to apply for Arts & Culture Mini Grants. Applicants should go to [email protected] and apply or print out the form: 2026 Grant Application . Then fill out the form, following the instructions, and send it along with any other requested documents to the address shown on the form.
Grant applications must be submitted by September 30, 2026 to be considered for an award this year. The approved Cultural Mini Grants will be awarded at the Fairfield Cultural Alliance Annual Arts & Culture Celebration & Networking Gala at the ICON Gallery on Tuesday, November 17, 2026 at 7:30pm. The FCA continues its work supporting individuals and local organizations that are drawing on limited resources trying to provide creative and innovative ways to showcase their art or talent. This may include face-to-face or virtual performance venues, online galleries and shared funding sources designed to connect artists of all sorts to their audiences, or other types of small projects that need a small boost to happen.
These small grants (usually under $500) can be used for project design, programming and operations. Other details are outlined on the website, along with a link to download and print the 2026 grant application.

A LAST-MINUTE ADDITION
STEINWAY SILENT FILM: "EAST & WEST"

Tonight: a special screening of the restored 1923 Yiddish silent comedy "East & West", accompanied live by two of the world’s leading performers of silent film and klezmer music.

Alicia Svigals, founder of the Grammy-winning Klezmatics and one of the world’s foremost klezmer violinists, joins master silent film pianist Donald Sosin, who has graced us with his playing in Fairfield before, to perform their original score live alongside the film.

And if you’re think you don’t have any connection to an old Yiddish silent film, just know this film has the DNA for all modern sitcoms. So if you liked any TV comedies from All In The Family to Seinfeld, come see where it all started.

Starring legendary Yiddish theater performer Molly Picon, East & West follows the daughter of a wealthy, assimilated American family on a visit to an Eastern European shtetl. Her brash American behavior clashes with local traditions, while attracting the attention of a shy Orthodox Talmudic scholar. The result is a lively comedy of culture, tradition, and romance.

Mini Grant Applications Now Open Through Fairfield Cultural Alliance

Fairfield, IA -- The Fairfield Cultural Alliance (FCA) is now accepting applications for its annual Mini Grant Program, designed to support arts, culture, and heritage projects within the Fairfield Cultural District and surrounding areas.
The FCA Mini Grants provide funding – typically between $250 and $500 – for individuals, groups, and nonprofit organizations creating projects that enrich the cultural landscape of Fairfield. From public performances to educational workshops, community murals to heritage celebrations, these grants fuel creative work that connects, uplifts, and inspires.
Applications are being accepted now through September 30, 2026, and recipients will be honored at the annual Arts & culture Celebration & Networking Gala on November 17,2026.
“This is one of the most direct ways we support Fairfield’s creative community,” says Jasmin Bode, FCA Board Member. “These small grants can have an outsized impact, whether through funding the spark of a new idea, amplifying an artist’s voice, or bringing neighbors together through shared cultural experiences.”

Fairfield Art Assn. Upcoming Events

Fairfield Art Association is adding "A Practice in Shape" Blown Glass Works by artisan Samantha Treankler to the current Main Gallery wall Exhibit by the Iowa Art Quilters & Fiber Artists. Treankler is an apprentice to artist Tim Blair at Bloom & Bark Glass blowing in Keosauqua, Iowa.
The show opens Friday June 5 in the Main Gallery at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center , with an artist reception from 6 - 8;30 PM.

The Summer Art Installation "Firecracker" celebrating our country's 250th Anniversary will also open on June 6th with 20 art creations by local artists and groups. The display will be downtown around the square & up Main Street for the summer. Hickenbottom Inc donated the PVC pipes for this project. Artists include Shelley Urban and her father Tom, Phoebe Fiedler, Mike Pech, Suzan Kessel, FHS Art Student, Chaz Alley, Mendy McAdams & Hayden, Claire Reid, Connie Boyer, Jeanne Skopin, Gigi Gifts & Signs, Chuck & Terri Drobny, Victoria Rose, Ashley Worley & 1st Baptist Church, Colin Faulkner. Several artists are working on two pipes.
