About our Staff
Joseph Pisani is a gifted and versatile art restorer with an enormous body of work and a wealth of experience. He attended the San Francisco Art Institute in 1957 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California School of Arts and Crafts in 1961. While there he studied painting and drawing with such well-known artists as Nathan O
liveira, Richard Diebenkorn, and George Post. Pisani joined the US Army in 1962 and worked until 1988 for the Department of Defense as an illustrator, art director, and finally as a Division Chief, where he managed more than 50 artists and designers. During his career with the Dept. of Defense, Pisani created murals and corridor exhibits on permanent display at the Pentagon. Pisani has been restoring fine art for the last 30 years in Fairfax, Virginia. He brings his training as an artist to the finely detailed and painstaking procedures he uses in restoring works of art. His technical abilities cover a wide variety of areas including oils, acrylics, and watercolors, sculpture stone/and metal, printmaking, paper making, framing and photography. All of the staff members of Art Gallery 101 have advanced degrees in studio art and art history and are trained by Pisani in conservation and restoration processes. About our Business
