Rainy Day(s) Hello JS! Hope everybody is amazing! I got a note that Fair Haven is looking for a new crossing guard to help cross the children during school hours. The pay is around $20/hr. If you know of anyone will you ask hin or her to reach out to the boro? And thank you Officer John Koetzner for getting the word out! Happy start of Fall!🍁🌊🚸
Watching the Rats de-rig at the end of the day, one of my favorite summer pastimes. PS foreground Rat is mine, bringing up the tail is his, and now our, counselor and friend, Danny. Love to all for their dedication and spirit!⛵️
“Children don't need to understand the composite of sand in order to play on the beach. They don't have to know the molecular structure of water to splash around in the waves and to lose themselves in tasting the raindrops that land on their tongues.” -Jennifer Hamady, Singer
These selects come from Jersey Shore historian, Susan Gardiner, and her family archive. When asked if she has a favorite time of day to take in the beach she replies, “Yes, I do…the early mornings when the sunshine sparkles like diamonds on the ocean!”☀️💎🌊

I am thrilled and humbled to introduce Jersey Shore historical trailblazing icon, Susan Sandlass Gardiner, to the page as a new contributor. Susan grew up in Sea Bright, NJ, and is the namesake of the family that inhabited the Sandlass House, aka Highland Beach Resort, the sole remnant of which sits at the entrance to Sandy Hook Gateway Park, and has recently been placed on the NJ’s top ten most endangered historical sites list. Susan is a co-founder of the Jersey Coast Heritage Museum, she is contributor to Twin Lights Museum website, and author of the book, ‘Sandy Hook’s lost Highland Beach Resort’. Susan will be keeping us informed of the progress on the preservation of the historical Sandlass House, as well as sharing nostalgia from earlier days along the Jersey Shore. I hope you enjoy her historical chronicles, and, if you get a chance, when you see her name pop up on a post, please say hello. I look forward to hearing your feedback! Welcome, Susan!!
