🎼 Meet the Elite 8: Seongwoo Moon 🇰🇷

Seongwoo Moon graduated from Seoul Arts High School, where he studied under Seunghye Choi. He is currently studying with Heesung Joo at Seoul  National University, receiving a scholarship from the Samick Cultural Foundation and DYC Company. His achievements in competitions include second prize at the Singapore Youth Piano Competition (2019), first prize at the Joong-Ang Competition (2021), one of the biggest competitions in Korea, and second prize at the Dong-A Competition (2019, Korea). He was the winner of the 2020 Taipei International Maestro Piano Festival’s Promising Star Competition, which earned him a concert with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra in 2022. Seongwoo has taken master classes from Pascal Roge, Rudolf Meister, Ory Shihor, Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri, Philip Jenkins, Edward Wolanin, and Soojung Shin among others.

🎼 Meet the Elite 8: Jialin Yao 🇨🇳

Chinese award-winning pianist Jialin Yao has captivated audiences worldwide with his “exquisite melody and profound understanding” and “supreme touch control” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer). He is a multifaceted artist who brings warmth, passion, and magic to all his appearances in solo, chamber music, and teaching. Jialin Yao began playing the piano at age 4 and studied with Hong Fu at the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. He also received guidance from pianist Ruoyu Huang in China. At the age of 22, Jialin Yao moved to the United States to earn his Master’s degree at The Juilliard School in New York, where he studied with Maestro Sergei Babayan. He is now continuing his studies with Maestro Babayan at the SMU Meadows School of the Arts, pursuing an Artist Diploma.

🎼 Meet the Elite 8: David Choi 🇺🇸🇰🇷

A senior at Stanford Online High School and the Colburn Music Academy, David Choi has established himself as a rising pianist on the international stage. Studying under Ms. Hye Jin Kim and Mr. Fabio Bidini, he has earned top honors at competitions worldwide, including first prizes at the Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition, the MTNA National Competition, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition. He is also a National Winner of the YoungArts Competition (2024, 2025) and a competitor of prestigious events such as the Sendai International Music Competition, Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, and the Hilton Head International Piano Competition. David strives to approach music with utmost sincerity in hopes that he can share these encounters with music to others for this purpose.

🎼 Meet the Elite 8: Chi-Jo Lee 🇹🇼

Pianist Chi-Jo Lee is an emerging voice in the classical music landscape. Her playing has been described as “virtuosic… with impressive grace” (San Diego Union-Tribune) and that her performance was “delivered with brio and apt abandon” (The Santa Barbara Independent). A versatile pianist, Chi-Jo navigates diverse genres from solo performances to chamber and contemporary music. Over the next two seasons, Chi-Jo will perform solo piano recitals at the Ventura Music Festival and ECHO Chamber Series, chamber music performances at the La Jolla Music Society, Le Salon de Musiques chamber music series, and Boston Court Pasadena. Other upcoming projects include collaboration with Maestro James Conlon on Music Restored concert, and several world premiere contemporary pieces. Chi-Jo also recorded music of Carl Czerny to be released on Naxos.
