We are the students of R.A.W. and we want to represent YOU! We will use our roles as a resource and advocate for students, we believe that these positions are here to represent students that often times aren't being represented on our campus that includes non-traditional people: students with disabilities, international & undocumented students, low-income, first-generation, LGBTQ+, students of col
or and student veterans. There needs to be a stronger voice, Together WE can be that voice. We believe in Rising for Justice, Acting for Students, and Winning Education.RAW!!!!! Our priorities for 2015-2016 include but are not limited to:
• Tuition & Affordability - The cost of higher education is expensive, and a barrier for many students, we want to continue to keep working towards making sure that students aren't profit centers. We will do this by demanding: state funding from our legislatures in Salem, textbook affordability, and exhausting every possible option to ensure that programs do NOT get cut, and our tuition that is at $99.50 gets capped. No more cuts and no more fees.
• Improve accessibility for students with disabilities in the areas of housing, facilities, and academic support – Our campus is really inaccessible to the disabled community and want to work on expanding resources to people that come to LCC whether that is students or Lane employees.
• Advocate for gender-neutral bathrooms to accommodate members of the LGBTQ+ community – Gender-neutral bathrooms are a necessity to many students
• Implement a sexual assault prevention program that widely educates all student groups on bystander intervention procedures
• Create and popularize an effective mentor-ship program for spring admits and transfer students
• Advocate for Queer Studies program in the social science department
• Continue to hold administrators and student government accountable by having open forums
• Advocate for the expansion of cultural resource centers
• Food Justice, Environmental Social Justice and Sustainability
• Creating safe spaces on and off campus
• Bridging high school students with Lane Community College and local universities
