Canine on Caffeine Gallery A place for exploration and appreciation

08/05/2026

For those who have followed me and enjoyed the looks into nature that I've posted, I thank you. It's been amazing to share glimpses into the quiet moments that happen in nature with others who feel a similar pull towards it. I would like to give an update as to why I have not been posting.

I'd like it to be known that facebook and instagram are blatantly stealing people's work. They give no option to keep your work as your own. They are not the only ones. They are hurting artists, content creators, and anyone who makes a living off of sharing their work with the world. They have hurt me. The thieves that run this social media platform have made it abundantly clear that they want to actively sabotage creator's work.

There is no way for me, or anyone else to opt out of this. They force you to refrain from posting entirely, or to post and let them steal your content. As someone who has a small creative bone in my body, it is disheartening to see the only platforms that give me a voice take my content. Without asking for permission other than a small line in their terms of service, they steal creative's work for a tool that they believe will replace artists, writers, and many other jobs.

They are working towards a future that will be built on the collective intelligence, and creativity of the human race, without handing a single cent back to those who created the original content. I can not post in good conscious knowing that those who run these platforms are actively trying to replace us.

I know this message will not reach many, but I had to put it out there. My work is my life. My passion. I can not stand here and pretend that it's okay. The general population is getting the short end of the stick while those above us take what's ours to build a dystopian future. Generative Ai models are not the way forward. Human intelligence and creative work is.

I will post in the future, but only once I have secured a way to prevent these companies from using my content without permission. Thank you to those who have shown me support. It means the world to spread the joy of the world we live in. I hope to share that joy soon again in the future.

The American white pelican is definitely not a bird I think of when I think of Colorado, and I was very lucky to see one all the way up here in Estes during this past week! No less relaxing with a cormorant just nearby!

American white pelicans are known to grow a fibrous horn that protrudes from their top bill during mating season, which falls off shortly after eggs are laid. This specific one is actually feeding chicks, noted by the gray/black crown that they grow on the top of their head when doing so. Nature is fascinating!

Though things may not always go your way, it's important to take a moment of rest, wherever you can get it. Take the time to slow down and come back fresh. New ideas. A different perspective.

Becoming one of my favorite birds around Estes during the summer. The color variation between the male and female can easily cause one to think that the birds are of two different species! While the males are red in coloration, the females can retain a more gray/yellow coloration. Keep an eye out for these unique birds around town!

It's always hard to believe that the mountains aren't just a backdrop to our world. You can go there. You can explore. You can get lost for days in the trees and still find new life. The world is big. Go out and explore.

It's important to remember as we move from our dry winter that nature can be just as fragile as us at times. In an instant, The once peaceful surroundings can become a raging inferno given the right conditions. I'd like to express my gratitude and my thanks to the brave firefighters of this state, and the miraculous work that they've done. Without them, I would be without a home, along with many, many others. They deserve more thanks and attention than we give them.

Just a day or so ago, we lost three of our firefighters to the Snyder-Mesa fire. They died trying to protect us. That's more than a lot of people would do. It breaks me knowing that other's are willing to put themselves in such danger on the edge of wildfires like that. We don't deserve them. Take a moment to appreciate your firefighters. Let them know that the work that they do is beyond exceptional. That their efforts are felt throughout the entire community. Thanks to them, we still have a lively, beautiful place that we can call home.

Thank you for all you do. The effort you put in. The unpredictable job that you devote yourself to. The harsh conditions that you willingly expose yourself to. There will never be a proper way to give thanks for every acre of land you've saved. Every person. Every house. Thank you, to all the firefighters in Colorado, and from across state lines, for your impactful, and meaningful accomplishments. The world would not be the same without you.
