So happy that sixth graders in the Escondido Union School District are able to have these great outdoor experiences.

What an incredible week for our 6th graders at Camp Cuyamaca! They dove into the great outdoors and embraced every moment of adventure. From breathtaking hikes that tested their limits to archery sessions where they aimed for goals both literal and personal, this week was packed with fun and learning.

Evenings by the campfire fortified friendships with storytelling, laughter, and the great outdoors. Watching our students grow, explore, and connect with nature has been truly inspiring. Here’s to many more outdoor adventures and memories made!

The Orange Glen Conservation Crew is working with the San Diego County Parks Department to develop the new Bear Valley County Park on Bear Valley Parkway and Birch Avenue. So far, our student crews have cleaned out trash, trim, trees, and bushes, spread mulch over existing trees, worked on designs for the park, and are currently planting native trees.

A great project and highly dedicated students.

So proud of our Orange Glen High School students that participated in this grueling Firefighting event at the Poway Fire Training Facility last Saturday. They were up against far more experienced schools and represented Escondido extremely well!

We had an incredible day out on the ocean
with in San Diego! 🌊🎣

Everyone got the chance to fight and catch a ton of fish
– there was so much excitement on the boat! For
some, it was their first time ever on the ocean in a
boat, and for others, it was their first time fishing. The
thrill of reeling in their first catch made it an
unforgettable experience.

We’re happy to say that everyone took home fish,
making it a successful trip all around!!

Kayaking Adventures Begin!🛶

Today, we had an incredible time kayaking at Agua
Hedionda Lagoon! The weather was perfect, and the
water was calm. As we venture into this new journey,
we’re still figuring out the best way to transport our
kayaks for future trips. But one thing’s for sure—we’re
ready to explore more lagoons and waterways!

Stay tuned for our upcoming adventures as we plan to
visit different locations and continue our kayaking trips

Really proud of the 600+ Orange Glen High School students who we have introduced to outdoor activities. In the past year, we have taken our students on over 80 trips hiking, camping, horseback riding, backpacking, surfing, kayaking, snowboarding, rock climbing, ocean fishing, mountain biking, skateboarding, lake fishing, and so much more. For many of our (low-income, new to the outdoors) students, this was their first time attempting these activities.

We are looking forward to another great year and introducing new activities, especially our career component, which will include introductions to emergency medical services, fire-fighting, search and rescue, and law enforcement. Our environmental science and conservation programs are ready to take off as well.
