Today's first rodeo picture of the season might look a little different, today's picture isn't how we wanted to start the season off but one thing for sure this picture wont be the forever picture! This picture doesn't define who this cowboy is!

This tough cowboy might be standing on the sidelines cheering his buddies on but before we know it he too will be behind the chutes and riding the bulls!

Right now seems like forever away till he is behind the chutes but this small bump in the road will be over before we know it. Before long everyone will be cheering loud to watch this tough cowboy to ride again!

Yay!! The stitches are out!! One step closer to healing! The incision looks really good, it just itches. The pain has been under control which is really good.

The doc told him he can put minimal weight on his ankle only with a boot on though.

Have a follow up in 4 weeks to hopefully start PT. The doc also said it is a HUGE might but might come out of the boot then. (NOT HOLDING OUR BREATH)

I think this tough bullrider is going to prove he will be back sooner than the doctor say!

The x-rays looked really good and the incision is looking good. We will go back next week to get the sutures out.

Will stay on no weight bearing for the next 6 weeks and then start PT.

They do not want to rush into anything as he is still young and his goal is to get back on a bull. They want to make sure all goes well and he heals to the best they can so he can continue his dream and goals of bullriding!

Post OP appointment to see how things are going and hopefully find out when he can start PT! They have done x-rays so praying it all looks good from surgery. He says he feels like he can feel the screws moving.

His pain level has been up and down. We are going to bring up to the doctor.

What a long day! When we finally got home we all crashed but this young cowboy is home resting!

Another small hiccup today that was not in the original plan. They ended up having to put 3 screws in..one long one and 2 small ones that will take out in about 12 weeks. The 2 small ones was from a break they didn't see on the stress view x-ray. On a good note they didn't have to put a plate in.

Recovery time took a little longer as he was in some serious pain so they tried to get it under control.

We will follow up Friday with the doctor to get a knee scooter to get around especially at school. He is not able to put any weight on it for a few weeks.

I know this recovery will seem like forever for this young cowboy to be down but it will be over before we know it.

Please sending prayers, we really appreciate it. I know the next few days will be roughest!

Not the news we wanted to hear today but I know this young cowboy will come back stronger than before!

Unfortunately the bull stomp did more damage than we originally thought. He broke the inside fibula bone and on the other side his ankle shifted. With that being said surgery is in the very near future (next week) to put some screws and plate in. He will then have to do PT to strengthen his ankle and be able to walk on it again...and ride bulls again!

The hard part to swallow today was being told he will be out 3-4 months.

Please keep this young cowboy in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this.

I know this small set back will make him stronger and he might surprise us and be back sooner!

Sometimes you win with the bull and sometimes the bull wins against you! Last night was a rough night for this young cowboy but at the end the bull did NOT win. This cowboy will be back stronger and show that bull who is boss! No matter what he is tough as nails in our eyes!

Might be a small set back but it wont be for long. Tomorrow we follow up with orthopedic to see what the next steps will be and how long! For now lots of rest!
