As my fallowing keeps growing more and more of my followers are starting to be people I don’t know personally so here’s a bit about me, the maker behind Clark Custom’s.
My names Dalton Clark, I’m 29 and we currently reside in eastern Kansas where I help my in laws run a lawn care business as well as I’m on the volunteer fire department and my wife is a high school AG & FFA advisor. As well as we have the orneriest yet sweetest little boy who keeps us on our toes, who sure loves our pigs, horses, chickens, and his dogs and some day hopefully we can get some cattle. None of this would be possible without my wife I had talked for years about how I dreamed of becoming a silver smith and eventually becoming a bit maker. She gave me the nudge I needed to just get started and then here we are. As well as I have a great fallowing and a great support system encouraging me to continue and to grow my business.
I grew up mostly in western Kansas/panhandle of Texas. My wife convinced me to move east after our son Ryker was born and I took a job with her parents doing lawn care to be home more and quite frankly make more money. Not where I saw my life going but it’s a funny thing how priorities change when you get married and start a family. Most my life I have worked in feedlots, or day worked as well as my parents ran a cow calf operation.
Growing up I’ve always been fascinated with all things contributed to western art. From Tim Cox paintings to Billy Klapper bits, to watching my biggest mentor Clay Vigil build some amazing buckles, spurs, bits and he can engrave anything. It completely engulfed me. Now I knew I wouldn’t become a painter because my form of drawing is stick figures or drawing working/shipping pen ideas but I’ve always had a nitch for figuring out how to build things and working with my hands and it has lead me to here.
I’ve been building buckles for just over a year and it’s already been a heck of an adventure. I never thought that I’d have people from all over the country request my work. But I can ensure you when I say that my stuff is all handmade I start each order as just a piece of metal and the most mechanical thing I use is a grinder to clean my welds. Hope to learn how to build spurs and how to engrave one day but it’s all a process. On that note I say for myself and my family that your purchase is going to support a small and young family just trying to start their own spread and every order is personally made by me from the beginning to the end.
To those that have already purchased buckles off us thank you! If you’re considering buying buckles from me just know money comes back around but my buckles are built heavy to last a lifetime lol. But for real we will try our best on every order to satisfy your wants and every order is made by me in my shop from start to finish.
P.S. books are open, pm me to get started!
