Sometimes I draw pictures of my favorite stuffies. This one is Buddy and Caperine. They are best friends, and they are always together. Buddy is a Meowwolf that I picked up at Area 15 in Vegas last fall, and Caperine is a gift I received from my husband in 2024. I take her with me whenever I travel. She was in Vegas with me when I got Buddy. That’s how they became best friends. Caperine’s Bandana is official Chappelle Roan pink pony club merch. She is an enthusiastic member of the Pink Pony Club.

I dont draw portraits of famous people that often, but who isn’t inspired by the crew of Artemis II and their historic fly by the moon. April 7th will always be moon day to me. The picture of Christina Koch looking down at us that nasa released looks like a Bodicelli painting from the future. She is wearing a laurel crown and carrying a quiver in my drawing because I wanted to represent the goddess Artemis. 🙂

Thanks for my amazing new Bandana. I’m fortunate to have so many talented studio mates. I watched these get made in the print shop so when they went up for sale I had to have one. They are so well made. Nice work Tom and Gina!

This weather is crazy! A couple days ago I went through a whole basket of strawberries by myself trying to beat the heat. They’re cheap right now in California if you go someplace that sells local ones. I got mine at Berkeley Bowl. Here is a semi-fictional painting I made about the real strawberries that I ate. They weren’t falling from the sky but they might as well have been.

While I was in New Zealand I saw a kiwi. They’re nocturnal and I had to visit them in a very dark enclosure and I wasn’t allowed to take pictures and it was too dark to draw. In the dark they’re very active and not shy and I got to get up really close to them. Here is a drawing from memory of the one I spent the most time with.

Made it back to California! It’s actually been a couple days now. It takes me that long to recalibrate after crossing the international date line. My favorite thing about going to the southern hemisphere this time of year is that when we leave, it’s winter and when we come back, it’s spring! :)

The second frame is actually me at 19. Accurate? No. What’s funny is I actually do look like this illustration now. 19 year old me would not have dealt with this messy hippy.
