A Message From Our Founder.

“I spent a good deal of time in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota—a place that changed me and inspired me in ways that are hard to put into words, but deeply felt. If you’ve been there, you may know just how special it is.
This is Ojibwe homeland, a landscape held in relationship for thousands of years. The ancient canoe routes and portages still carry us through this wilderness today.

Jim Brandenburg lived right on the border, in wolf country—a place he dreamed of as a boy that would, in so many ways, become part of his story.

To say it is magical would be an understatement.

Nearly 1.1 million acres of wilderness, home to hundreds of species of wildlife and one of the most remarkable remaining wolf habitats in the lower 48.

At a time when our public lands are facing such reckless and tragic threats, protecting the places that bring us peace, grounding, and reconnection to nature matters more than ever.

Today, the momentum is rising to speak out for the health and needed protection of our sacred public lands, and the work continues...

On a global scale, we are losing species and wild places at an unprecedented rate. Scientists estimate that around 1 million species are threatened with extinction, many within decades, while human activity has already severely altered more than 70% of the world’s land.

But for this moment—a win!

Please join me in thanking Governor Tim Walz and let us continue the momentum to save these precious places now under threat across the U.S.

For the sacred Boundary Waters Canoe Area—

I know our friend Jim Brandenburg would be smiling—and breathing one enormous sigh of relief.
