Drawing my way through the Muslim world, one dish at a time. Today I am drawing “Kabsa”: a one-pot rice dish beloved across the Arabian peninsula. Kabsa is so important that in 2021, the Saudi Ministry of Culture officially designated it as a piece of national heritage!

Drawing my way through the Muslim world, one dish at a time. Today we’re enjoying Dahi Baray: soft, fried, lentil fritters that are soaked in sweet or savory yogurt and then topped with tamarind and mint chutneys.

It’s a beloved staple in South Asia and enjoyed by Muslims especially around Ramadan and Eid! Follow along as I draw more delicious dishes from the Muslim world!

I’m drawing dishes from one Muslim country at a time and today’s focus is Lebanon’s Falafel Pita Wrap. 🇱🇧

Falafel are made from ground chickpeas and fried until crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The wrap is usually stuffed with fresh veggies like lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, then drizzled with creamy tahini or garlic sauce.

I made this piece using Jusart Acrylic Markers and an Ohuhu sketchbook.

Drawing dishes from one Muslim country at a time. Today’s focus is my home country of Pakistan 🇵🇰 and their famous Samosas.

Samosas are a fried pastry that’s triangle in shape and filled with either spicy chicken, ground beef or tasty potatoes. This is a popular street snack that’s found in several other South Asian countries and enjoyed with tamarind and coriander chutneys.

I made this piece using Shuttle Art Alcohol Markers, Grabie Acrylic White Marker, and an Ohuhu sketchbook!
