One hand washes the other, both hands wash the face. La Cosa Nostra. Singe me, and everything burns.😌

*Playback: 1985*, 2019
Mixed media and found object on repurposed Technics SL-BD22 die-cast aluminum turntable platter
31.2 cm diameter (12 9⁄32 in.)

*Playback: 1985* transforms a component of domestic audio technology into an industrial portrait charged with memory, menace, and cultural nostalgia. The circular turntable platter becomes a mask-like form recalling the visual language of American slasher cinema, while the embedded 8-ball functions simultaneously as an eye, an oracle, and a symbol of uncertain fate.

Created from a circa-1985 Technics platter, the work connects the artist’s childhood in the 1980s with the decade’s enduring relationship to vinyl, mechanical design, and horror imagery. Its distressed surface and intense red palette shift the object away from its original function, preserving the physical history of the machine while recasting it as an artifact of suspense, memory, and transformation.
