Happy Sabbath.

This weeks Sabbath Day Sermon 102224

As I was pondering here this morning a short message came across my mind. Now it isn't anything new or anything we haven't read or heard before but, today it seemed most relevant. I also want to take the time in this message to show parallels between secular societies' way of thinking versus mine. I say mine because I'm not exclusive in this way of thinking, not to mention “but by the grace of God there go I.” (Dwight L. Moody American evangelist), Fair enough? I’ll leave the personal pondering and opinions to yourselves.

Now we've all described the simple version of “justice” in a personal manner one way or another since the beginning of time. Some may call it karma, others may call it getting what you deserve. Regardless of your preferred reference it does not change the fact we all agree in one way or another.Does that surprise you? It shouldn't, and that very fact alone is enough to bolster my entire hypothesis on why we can't change others until we, FIRST, change ourselves, but I digress as that is not the focus of today's message. Or is it?

In Galatians 6:7-9 it says
“7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Let me take a moment and break that down. You have to first understand that when it says sow, it is referring to someone planting a seed in a garden or a pot. When it says reap, it means gathering it, or picking it once it's grown. Don't expect to plant corn and pick peas at the harvest, and the same goes for your everyday choices. I feel like this is enough to say, you should clearly understand that if you choose to live a life of crime don't be surprised if you end up in prison. If you want a good life and good results full of love and happiness then plant that.
In closing I just want to clarify that a seed planted today doesn't bloom tomorrow, it's only after watering and with much care does it begin to grow. To reap its full potential we must nurture it in a way that brings about its best. Unfortunately you cannot skip this step, but do not let that deter you,because it's also true that most things don't die because we failed to water them just one day. What kinda harvest do you want to have down the road? There is no better time to plant than right now and the more good seeds you plant the better the harvest. Happy season my friends.

You shouldn’t expect immediate results when praying for patience, but praying you should indeed.

Good Morning Y'all. I normally post these sermons on a Friday or Saturday in honor of the Sabbath, but because of the events going on this week, more specifically Hurricane Milton, I felt sending it out today was best. I think by now we can all agree that the World definitely has some strange and devastating weather anomalies happening, but let me clarify this before anyone begins to argue their position of why that is, we are not here to debate climate change or prophecy, those are discussions better held elsewhere. Today I want to focus more on teaching. My mom is a retired school teacher, and my wife is a teacher and I have many teacher friends, but did you know that you are a teacher too?

As many of you know, nature often inspires my messages, and today isn't any different. It shouldn't come as a surprise, my own mom declares I was raised by wolves. We haven't had much rain lately so I always keep out a large watering place just outside of my office window. Earlier this week I watched a mother deer lead her new baby to the water before tarrying back into the woods, and I've witnessed countless birds and other animals daily. This morning while having my coffee I had a big blue jay named Fred come down to the water and he brought two younger blue jays with him. I watched him go through his routine while the youthful birds stood by. After observing for a moment the juvenile birds joined him and it dawned on me what was happening. Fred was teaching them where the water was located as well as its purpose. I wonder how often others watch us, more importantly what they are learning by doing so.

I could end this message right here, I believe I have made my point, but in closing let me add this. Everyone reading this has an opportunity right now to declare change, the only thing that matters going forward is where you go from here.It's time for the world to see the new you, start small by changing who or what you are watching, instead focus on the things that inspire a better you. Everyone has a God given talent and purpose, take this opportunity to discover what that may be, if not for yourself then for the sake of those observing.. Someone somewhere is learning with or without your knowledge, what do you want them to discern? Do not let anyone say that you do not matter because you do. Good or bad, that’s upto you!!

Mark 10:27
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God ALL things are possible.

I was pondering this morning watching the sunrise, and began thinking about all the tasks that need to be done around here before winter. This got me thinking about all the things going on around the world and how the times are rapidly changing. If you’ve been following my sermons the last few weeks you know I’ve been focusing a lot on change. Today I wanna veer just a little and start to draw some parallel between the changes in ourselves and the changes going on around the world. I believe this message will be beneficial no matter your beliefs as the events happening are affecting us all. Being prepared for catastrophic occurrences like Hurricane Helene are not limited to one race, religion, or gender, matter of fact they actually highlight the necessity of community and love for thy neighbor.

Now I’m going to list off some things I believe you should be doing now to prepare for the worst. Just in case you don’t know, many people are dead or missing in several states that were impacted by Helene, and many many more are stranded with no food, water, or medications.
The lack of preparedness can be the difference between life or death and at minimum the amount of suffering. Oftentimes we do not have enough forewarning emphasizing the importance of being ready for anything at all times.

I would like to just take a second and tell you what I believe should be everyone's first priority. You would have to be blind to not see the devastation happening globally, or that the United States is on the brink of bankruptcy. You probably think I’m about to tell you silver and although that is true it is not the most important thing. Your top priority should be your soul, When you search for the Lord with all your heart, you WILL find him period. I can assure you I searched, and I found him and let me tell you, ever since then he has provided me everything else and some.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.

Real quick for anyone who is new or doesnt know where to go find him, or wants to absolutely declare their faith follow me just a second before I move on. In Romans 3:23-26 The Bible says

“23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; THAT ALL OF US!
24 Being JUSTIFIED FREELY by his grace through the REDEMPTION that is in CHRIST JESUS:
25 Whom GOD hath set forth to be a propitiation through FAITH in his (JESUS) blood, to DECLARE his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 TO DECLARE, I say, at THIS TIME his righteousness: that he (JESUS) might be just, and the justifier of HIM (THAT'S YOU MAN AND WOMAN) which believeth in Jesus.
This is saying if you truly want to find Jesus then DECLARE at THIS TIME that you want to be justified by believing in Jesus. Claim it! Say it now, in your heart declare at THIS TIME now!! Scream it if you must.
Okay, now with that all settled here are a few things I believe you should be doing to prepare.
* Collecting as many gallons of water you can, you can use the water from the faucet. Boiling the water before you use it would be wise. You can google how to safely store water.
* Fill up all propane cylinders, DO NOT trade them for those at stores, those are only 20lbs and max pressure is 65 lbs. Take them into a propane dealer and have them fill them. It will not only be cheaper but they will be full.
* Candles, batteries, first aid, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, bleach and have extra for barter and trade.
* Real honey, lots of honey, a person can survive on honey alone. And have smaller bottles to use as trade or barter.
* Rice, noodles, beans, can goods. Store them in mylar bags and 5 gallon food grade buckets from Walmart.
* Flour, cornmeal, powder milk, pack some in smaller containers for barter and trade.
* Everclear and or vodka, whiskey for use as medicinal as well as sanitation. Stock smaller bottles separately for barter and trade.
* Old T shirts, do not throw them away or donate, you cut them into rags and cloths when no paper products.
* Coffee, Cocoa, sugar, seasonings and salt, also packed into smaller bags for barter and trade.
* Save individual packets of condiments that do not need refrigeration.
* Soap, laundry detergent, shampoo.
* Bug and insect control, sunblock.
* Sharp knives, hatchet, machete and wet/dry matches.
* Seed Vault, you can order online so you can grow your own food if necessary.
* Books on survival, projects, gardening, alternative medicine.
* Cheese cloth, jars, bottles,particularly glass for storage of items.

These are just a few things to consider please feel free to add anything you deem valuable. Thank You all for reading.

For the last few sermons I have been largely focusing on making positive changes in ourselves, with the overall theme centering how these changes may impact those around us. Now this goes both ways of course meaning, we also have the ability to produce unwanted negative consequences. I want to delve on this subject a little deeper this morning, but first let me remind you that in Romans 3:23-26 it says

“23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”

Let me clarify that all of us need “26 to declare at THIS Time our faith and belief in Jesus.” Now with that being said let's move on to today's message

One of the most recurring things I’ve noticed, is when people make these changes, thus creating a better self, they tend to be mocked and reminded by their peers of who and what they used to be, particularly their own friends and families. I encourage you to remove anyone in your life that does not support and encourage you. It is this new you that verifies your true salvation through natural repentance and change brought upon by your faith and belief in Christ Jesus, The question is, are we guilty of doing the exact thing?

In the past I have found myself doubting the authenticity of others, or worse believing they cannot and will not ever change. We've all seen it or done it, have you ever heard of someone in prison guilty of committing a major crime only to find out later that they found Christ? Yeah you know what I’m talking about, let us not forget that we also have a past and just because we might consider our sins to be “Less Severe” makes us no less guilty and certainly not more worthy of the righteousness only possible through the forbearance of God. Read it again “For ALL have sinned and come short.”

I want to share with you the story of Joseph, I’m summarizing of course and I’ll disclose where you can go read the entire book in the notes below. Joseph was this seventeen year old kid that had eleven brothers. He was a typical cocky teenager and would constantly get under the skin of his older brothers, it didn't help matters that he was the favorite son of their father due to his youth and vibrant nature. One day their Pops gathered them up and sent them all to go take care of some things that would require them to leave the property. Joseph tagged along of course and it wasn't long before Joseph was on the last nerve of his older brother Judah. Upset Judah called his other brothers over and they started discussing how they could get rid of little Joe.
They must have really despised him because at one time they were considering killing him and throwing him into a deep hole he couldn't get out of, they were serious too.

About that time a couple of traffickers were passing by and they hatched a scheme to sell Joe to them as a slave, then go back home and tell their Pops he got killed by a wild animal. Sadly that's exactly what they did. I can only imagine how scared Joseph must have been wondering what would become of him. Judah and the other brothers maintained this secret for many years but the truth eventually would be discovered.

I don't want to ruin the ending for you so I won't share too much more but, I will tell you that it has a happy ending. Now you may be wondering what does this have to do with anything pertaining to change or today's message, That's a good question glad you asked. Would you agree that the actions of Judah certainly should be considered a major crime? Kidnapping, false imprisonment, trafficking under age children, conspiracy to commit murder. What about deceiving his Pops,and the lies he hid for many years. It would be hard to believe that such a man could change and even harder to believe that God would not only forgive him but bless him.
In conclusion let me inform you that Judah, was the fourth of the twelve sons of Jacob, and eventually would be the one God would use to bring out King David as well as Jesus the Messiah. Whenever you believe there is no way, remember this story and that God can and will change anyone who calls upon his name. You can read this story and more in Genesis 37:1-50:26 in the Holy Bible.
