So, my fiancé and I just broke up. It's been a wild ride. I really didn't see this coming at all. We'd been having some strange arguments lately, mostly about my pet chickens. He'd been giving me the cold shoulder. I couldn't figure out why he was acting so off. I thought we were getting ready to start our family, and now everything is just done.
The other night, I got home from work pretty late. I opened the door and couldn't believe my eyes. I found him bawling on my couch. He was so drunk, and he was hugging his huge St. Bernard. I hadn't invited him over. I didn't even know why he brought the poor dog with him.
He was a major mess. He couldn't even form a sentence when I tried talking to him. I knew we couldn't have a real conversation right then, so I managed to get him into bed so he could sleep off the booze. I figured we'd sort things out in the morning.
When I woke up, I went into the kitchen. He'd left it a huge mess from trying to find more drinks. I was busy cleaning up when he walked in. He didn't say good morning or anything normal. He just looked me in the eye and told me he's moving to New York, and we're over.
He actually tried to walk right out the door after dropping that bomb. I wasn't going to let him leave without an explanation. I grabbed his arm and demanded the truth. Finally, he sat down and spilled everything. It's a lot to process.
Apparently, his boss offered him a role at their main office in New York. He really wanted to take it. He told his mom, who thought we should both move there. Then, he called my best friend for advice. I don't know why he thought that was a good idea.
My best friend told him I'd never agree to move. She said I'd get super mad if he even brought it up.
