Body-Mind Centering® (BMCˢᵐ) is an experiential approach to movement re-education and hands-on repatterning developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. Using movement, touch, voice and mind, BMCˢᵐ is an exploration of the personal embodiment of our cells, our body systems and our developmental patterns. It has an almost unlimited number of areas of application and is currently being used by people in mo

vement, dance, yoga, bodywork, physical and occupational therapy, psychotherapy, child development, education, voice, music, art, meditation, athletics and other body-mind disciplines. Since 1973, the School for Body-Mind Centering® has been dedicated to sharing this dynamic approach to embodiment studies with the world. Programs and immersion series are now offered by licensed training organizations in Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and Asia. Graduates of programs receive a certificate from the School for Body-Mind Centering®. Body-Mind Centering® programs, immersion series, and courses present detailed and specific approaches to the personal embodiment of our cells, our body systems, and our developmental patterns. The principles and techniques learned can be used for personal growth, for professional enhancement, or to begin a career in the field of somatic movement and/or infant developmental movement education and therapy.

A new cycle of the Infant Developmental Movement Education Program is starting in Italy in September 2026 with Leben nuova.

All courses are taught in Italian and English with consecutive translation.

The School for Body-Mind Centering® Infant Developmental Movement Education (IDME) Program is a highly sophisticated and subtle approach to the observation and facilitation of normal movement patterns in infants.

The approach incorporates the child’s curiosity, interest and individuality into the relationship with the educator. It is child centered and relationship centered, and child oriented rather than task oriented.

It trains people to recognize early movement patterns and to interact effectively with infants in gentle, enticing ways that will have a positive effect on their growth and development.

The goal in movement education with infants is to help set a foundation that supports pathways of ease, strength, agility and adaptability and to help avoid restrictive patterns of movement that inhibit the development of the full potential of the child.

How does the body organize balance and movement?

One important relationship is between the center and the limbs.
The central axis — head, spine, and tail — provides orientation and support. From this axis, the limbs extend outward to reach, move, and interact with the world.

When the center supports the limbs clearly, movement often feels more coordinated and balanced. When the limbs inform the center, the body can respond more easily to change.

In Bonnie's upcoming online series The Art of Balance: A Body-Mind Centering® Somatic Approach to Dynamic Mobility, we will explore how this dialogue between center and periphery influences balance, mobility, and adaptability.

Through developmental movement patterns and anatomical exploration, we will look at how support and action continually inform one another.

If this exploration resonates with you, we invite you to join her in this series.

✨ Pay From The Heart scholarships and flexible payment plans are available.

Participants receive:
• 10 live online classes
• Unlimited lifetime access to class recordings
• Course materials and illustrations
• Access to study groups during the live course
