When you take into consideration the facts that we are outside of city limits, are not a high end expensive venue, there are trucks, cars, and tires all around, and that we are fully run by young adults, and perform outdoors, you realize that not many places around town offer an experience such as ELM. Ernie's Live was founded by sixteen year old entrepreneur, Carlos Carlos, a local El Paso musici
an with big dreams. Carlos' father, Ernie Reyes made it possible for him to host shows at Ernie's Diesel Truck Shop, simply because nobody else gave our founder the opportunity nor the financing to do something like this. If anything, this proved a rare opportinity most teenagers simply don't have. Our first show was a simple event, a "yay, it's finally summer vacation!" show. After getting together some bands, including his own, they came out right after school, cleaned up the lot, set up a flatbed as a stage, hooked up a PA System, some amps, a drum kit, and some rock n' roll spirit. Unfortunetly, some money-hungry event planners and local promoters, the show seemed "lame" and "unprofessional. " Fortunatly, the crowd of teenagers that showed up had a "f***ing awesome time bro" !!! This is what inspired us to keep going at it all summer long, leading to shows with Oceano, iwrestledabearonce and Etienne Sin. Carlos, along with the ELM support crew are still going at it, booking shows, and supporting the improving local El Paso underground hardcore scene.
