Ya llego La Cucaracha! 🇲🇽🪳🏳️‍🌈

Join us for a weekend of pride and performance in the border as we premiere LA CUCARACHA, a drag cabaret by and for fronterizxs about masculinity in the shadow of two men who made their mark on the borderland: revolutionary General Pancho Villa and groundbreaking singer Juan Gabriel.

Between old corridos and sips of mezcal, playwright Demian Chavez Galvan and drag artist Danté Picante imagine and re-imagine the masculine heroes of their hometown. Part-memoir, part-hagiography, part-acoustic drag show, and fully-fronterizo.

Saturday, June 27 we'll perform at the Mexican American Cultural Center at 1 PM, following the El Paso Pride Parade, and at 6 PM, as Pride Fest rages on in Downtown El Paso.

Sunday, June 28 we'll be at Touch Bar El Paso for a special fundraiser performance at 6 PM in benefit of TransFronterizxs, a non-profit that supports the borderland trans community.

Monday, June 29 we'll be at the La Fe Culture & Technology Center in Segundo Barrio, where we'll be sharing excerpts from the play and sitting down for an honest conversation about q***r health en la frontera with the co-creators and guests from TransFronterizxs.

In a hazy desert cantina, a musician drinks with a devil... Over the course of a few songs and many sips of mezcal, playwright Demian Chavez Galvan and drag artist Danté Picante explore, lampoon, and re-imagine masculinity in the borderlands in the shadow of two famous fronterizos: Pancho Villa and Juan Gabriel.

Join us for the premiere of La Cucaracha, a drag cabaret created by and for fronterizxs. Find us at Touch Bar El Paso on June 28, where we'll hold a fundraiser performance in benefit of TransFronterizxs, a non-profit that supports the trans community in the borderland.

Celebrate children and reading at the Library! Teatro Sin Fronteras will present their illustrated book Codex Miquiztli in English, Spanish, and Nahuatl.

Create your own Codex inspired by Aztec artists and enjoy educational activities with our community partners. Food provided. Teatro Sin Fronteras is a multilingual arts company. Their work seeks to celebrate the diverse cultures, history, and voices of Mexican-Americans. All ages welcome.

Join us on Saturday, April 11 from 12:00-2:00pm at the Cepeda Branch Library! Cepeda Library is in East Austin at 7th and Pleasant Valley (651 N Pleasant Valley Rd).

Sábados en Familia is a free kids’ cultural arts and crafts program for ALL AGES, delivered by the ESBMACC at libraries all over Austin. Families with kids of all ages can participate for free. A hands-on art project or activity follows the bilingual story read-along.

Teatro Sin Fronteras is a multilingual arts company based in the U.S.—Mexico Borderlands. Their work in print and performance seeks to celebrate the diverse cultures, history, and voices of Mexican-Americans. They have produced multilingual performances across the Southwest and recently published Codex Miquiztli, their first illustrated book.

Participants will follow along with the storytime and then they will get to make their own codices!
